Rye’d Piper
Tasted on tap at the Bistro 12th Annual IPA Festival on 8/8/09. This IPA pours a medium amber color. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity, sweet, with a touch of hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral. There is a touch of spiciness from the rye. Seems to add a little fullness to the mouthfeel as well. Mild to medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

The aroma is smoky yet skunky finishing dry. Pours copper with white. The flavor is smoky but there is a stale cigarette flavor - strange. It works. IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA
