Ale Industries Rye’d Piper Tasted on tap at the Bistro 12th Annual IPA Festival on 8/8/09. This IPA pours a medium amber color. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity, sweet, with a touch of hops. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral. There is a touch of spiciness from the rye. Seems to add a little fullness to the mouthfeel as well. Mild to medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Pretty damn good! Consider this an IPA, not a "Specialty Grain" whatever the f that is. The aroma is smoky yet skunky finishing dry. Pours copper with white. The flavor is smoky but there is a stale cigarette flavor - strange. It works.

Draft at the Bistro’s IPA Fest. Nose of light coffee, pumpernickel, and floral hops. Lightly hazy brown with a small beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, coffee, and a hint of chocolate.

Draft. Toffee colored beer with a cream colored head. Caramel and light earth aroma. Caramel and earthy flavor with spice and light hops. Medium-plus bodied. Earth and caramel lingers with spice and light PNW hops. A less hoped and lighter version of Hop Rod Rye.
