Handpulled cask at the Farmers Boy, St. Albans. Dark brown with an off-white head. Good lively condition and fresh malty aroma. Moderatly hopped but with a pronounced sour flavour. Will try again.

Cask condtioned @ Farmers Boy, St Albans. Dark malty bitter. Light bodied. Toffeeish with slight orangey hops. Hints of chocolate.

Cask conditioned at the Farmer’s Boy, St Albans. Chocolate brown coloured with a slight head. Aroma of preserved fruit and sweet malt. Flavour was of fruit ’n’ nut with a hoppy finish. An unusual but pleasant brew.

Cask handpull at Farmer’s Boy, St Albans. Deep chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Lots of malt in mouth, good fruit, raisins and sultanas and plums. Some balancing hop on finish. Bit too malty for me. Nice though.

On cask at The Farmers Boy, St Albans, 20 Jan 07. A cracking beer. Appearance is stunning - very dark, with a good solid head. Very malty but balanced with a ctirus hop presence that makes this a very unusual old ale. Very drinkable - we enjoyed many pints of the stuff on Stonch’s pub crawl (see http://stonch.blogspot.com for the write-up)

Cask at The Farmers Boy St Albans 29 Sep 06. Deep brown - almost black coloured. A tiny head. Some fruity aroma. Flavour of citrus. A pleasant sourish bitter aftertaste.

Half pint on cask at the brewpub. Missing head. Rusty copper in colour. The aroma is dominated by a tangy fruitiness. Flavour of dark berries with a solid touch of succulent oranges. Dry, bitter ending. A balanced dark brew throughout (Farmers Boy, St Albans 29.09.2006).
