Commercial Description:
Bright copper color, sparkling clarity, and good foam retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Deep toasty/caramelly malt balanced by spicy/fruity hop flavors accented by fruit esters resulting from fermentation with a championship yeast strain. The aroma is subtle and reflects the flavor with malt, hop and fruit (ester)/fermentation characteristics. Smooth, medium-bodied. Easy drinking with no harsh or astringent sensations.

(On tap) This is the first ESB I’ve tried that has been truly devoid of any objectionable qualities. That in itself is a huge plus. This beer is dark for an ESB. The flavour is fairly light though. Just the right amount of body so that it is neither thin nor heavy. Overall, however, not particularly remarkable. There is nothing about this beer that stands out, and in my opinion, it is not terribly complex.

Suprisingly delicious. I never know what to expect anymore with American ESBs, they are all over the board. This was superior in its rich but not overly sweet malt background, just the right amount of floral hoppiness gets into your nose with every sip along with some jammy fruit notes. Creamy well balanced mouthfeel. Highly enjoyable.

22oz bottle. Nice looking beer. Pours a medium copper-brown, with a nice off-white head. Aroma is balanced, with a bit of spice. Flavor is was almost perfect for a bitter, not too hoppy, plenty of malt. Palate was smooth, with just a bit of fizzy carbonation. Overall a very good example of an American ESB.

Draft @ Lou & Mickeys, San Diego. Copper and clear, with a small head. Aroma is slight caramel malt and fruity spices. Taste is caramel, slight apple and earth-spiced orange marmalade. Crisp finish of resin and roasted malt. Light-medium body is dry.

22 oz bottle poured into an English pint glass has a dark amber color with red highlight. head initially is a thick one finger light tan and falls to a layer with good retention. aroma has caramel malt, light hops, spice, and mild fruit. mouth feel is medium light with a nice creamy texture. flavors are bolder in the taste bringing a well malted character and light bitters along with mild hops. there is some sweetness that i like and light spice along with nicely complementing hops that are all well balanced. very enjoyable to drink.

Bomber. Pours a deep copper color with a one finger creamy off white head. Nose is really mild with just a faint hint of sweet malts. Palate is caramel, malt and a touch of hops. A bit too sweet for my tastes. Medium mouth feel and decent lacing. Not one of Alesmith’s better beers.

Bright copper amber color colour with a foamy tan head and lacing. Nice aroma with hints of pine, malt and spice. Very nice English style ale.
