| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 8, 2007 650ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy deep mahogany brown with an ample off-white head that lasts a good long time and has plenty of lacing. Aroma is light to medium in strength and has notes of citrus, malts and hops. Flavor is understated with nuttiness, malts, and some spices(thyme and allspice perhaps). Hops were inadequate for an ESB, this beer is not even close to my expectation for that style. Mouthfeel was a bit thin. Finish was long and malty and satisfying. Overall this is the first Alesmith product that I have not been impressed with. I trust that they will refine and improve this offering in the future. My criticism not withstanding, a very drinkable and like-able beer. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 3, 2007 22 oz. bomber bottle, history lesson and blurb on the back of bottle, sampled in a imperial pint glass.
Poured as instructed, leaving as much yeast as possible in the bottle, clear reddish copper with a large rocky, foamy pale tan head, good retention, settled into a creamy lacing, small amount of laced sticking.
A nose of fruity, pineapple esters, then toasted caramel and grains, floral, fruity, herbal spicy hops.
Velvety smooth light, moderate body, low, but firm carbonation, incredibly quaffable drinkability. Malty tastes of toasted sweet caramel and grains, dry biscuity towards the end. Fruity yeast, pineapple mainly. An distinct English hoppiness with a smooth, soft bitterness, orange rind, floral leafy and woody herbs. Finishes dry, caramel grainy and leafy, spicy hops.
Excellent ESB from AleSmith, near perfect, I wish this was available in Illinois. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 24, 2007 Bottle. Pours a hazy dark copper/brown color with a huge beige colored head. Aroma is caramel, fruity, floral hops. Flavor is caramel malts, toffee, citrus, floral notes. Palate is medium bodied, highly carbonated, finished super dry and bitter. I’m finding I really like this style more and more more, especially during the summer months. A great version of the style. posikyle (165), Alabama, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 23, 2007 I was very disappointed by this beer. I thoroughly enjoyed Alesmith’s IPA, so I expected this to be up to the same standards, but I was very let down. Color is a beautiful copper color, but aroma and taste are lacking. Probably would not buy this again. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Sweet, flowery aroma. Pours brown with a small beige head. Flavor is nice, not complex, but caramel, slight bitterness, and a medium body. Good for an ESB beerbill (1953), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 16, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours an almost clear copper with a moderate light tan head that left some light lacing. Nice bright citrus aroma. The flavor was quite mild with malt and toffee up front with just a bit of hops bitterness at the finish. The finish seemed a bit weak and just didn’t quite come together for me. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2007 Bottle, again thanks to Jon!! Poured a beautiful deep caramelly-toasted plum with a short, very well-placed off-white head and sticky lacing.. just what I was looking for! The aroma picked up sweet floral notes, soft caramel, and a touch of toasty fruits.. really, really nice!! Flavor had light toasty caramel at the core with some biscuit and toffee notes.. mild, but well-represented dried toasty floral and perhaps grassy notes.. just a perfect balance. About medium-bodied with a terrific balance!.. sweet citrus and floral at the finish with a sweet kick. This was quite good!
