Aromas of caramel malts and mild hopping. Taste was smooth and well balanced with caramel malts being the key. Wonderfull fruit esters from the yeast strain come through in the finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Reddish-copper color with a nice, substantial white head. Light aroma of pleasant ESB-ish hops with a pleasant caramel-malt essence. Taste is that of a solid ESB - sweet, caramelly-grainy malts with just enough hops to make you feel like your back in London. Just a good all-round’ ESB. What else would you expect from Alesmith? boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Bomber, shared with my mom. I ended up drinking the whole thing, she didn’t care for it, kept asking me to open another Speedway stout. Small off white head sits atop a hazy, glowing amber body teeming with tiny dancing bubbles. Flowery hops team up with slightly dry malt and nose-tingling earthiness, herbalness. Palate was very pleasant, full and creamy. Flavors were extraordinary for an ESB, tasted better than most cask bitters I’ve tried. Tastes of english hops, caramel and toffee, albarino skins and vanilla sugar. Hops are definitely present but don’t override any subtleties in the flavor. Finishes soft, long. Very well done bitter. eyesandsmiles (179), Mission Viejo, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2006 Rich popcorn caramel aroma. Mid-brown orange poru, with a rim of tan. Nice sweet caramel and toast flavor, staying on the sugary side of things, however manipulating the body reaches for quick drinkability. Toasty nuts blend with the sweetish malts and give me a real dose of intrigue. The raw, upfront Cascade flavor in the backend of the beer perks me up and makes me pay attention, while giving excellent balance. I reached for some of the important drying, oaklike acidity or tannic qualities, or even some of the saltiness that I crave in the style, but it wasn’t there, so it fell a touch short for me there. Otherwise, nicely drinkable and obivously well done. glkaiser (1171), Seattle, Washington, USA
