Something was definitely wrong with the bottle, we’ve decided, but until then this gets its low rating. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA

Absolutely a perfect compliment to any dish at the Liar’s Club. True to style and when ice cold, absolutely delicious. I’ve only had it on tap, at various places, so I can’t speak for the bottled version, but I’m sure it’s equally excellent. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 4, 2006 Bomber from Holiday Wine, bought by a good friend of mine that needs to join this site. Pours a hazy amber, and absolutely no head at all! I mean zero head. Sorry Peter. I must have received an off bottle. Mild aroma of caramel, toffee, crystal malt. Light mouthfeel and soft carbonation, but not watery tasting at all. Nice british malt flavor characteristics, toffee, caramel, with a touch of fruitiness. The bitterness is offset by the sweetness on the finish that it goes does smooth. Even though I have an American palate, I have a great appreciation for british bitters. Many brewers don’t capture the essence of them well, especially in the bottle. This gave me flashbacks of my trips to England. The only flaw in my sample was that there was no head. I’d love to get another bottle or try this on cask. Cornfield (4938), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 23, 2006 This has a deep copper body, but even an aggressive pour could raise only the slenderest beige head. It smells of caramel and toffee and butterscotch with fresh apple juice. A bit thin. The flavor is mainly caramel with a touch of apple, a mild earthy bitterness kicking in at the finish. Okay.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 17, 2006 Cask at brewery - Pours clear amber with a big, billowy head that leaves good lacing. It has a nice hoppy aroma with some slight spice undertones. The flavor has some caramel malts and a fine quality hops kick. Cask carbonation is light and smooth. There’s a nice balance to this ESB. It didn’t blow me away, but it’s quite good. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 1/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 5, 2006 via trade with cbkschubert, thanks Craig. Very disappointing. Zero head. I repeat zero head with almost no carbonation. Very bland taste. Nothinging happening here, which sucks ass cause I was really in a mood for a good ESB. Nothing special about this and not bitter enough.
