| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 17, 2006 Cask at brewery - Pours clear amber with a big, billowy head that leaves good lacing. It has a nice hoppy aroma with some slight spice undertones. The flavor has some caramel malts and a fine quality hops kick. Cask carbonation is light and smooth. There’s a nice balance to this ESB. It didn’t blow me away, but it’s quite good. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

I repeat zero head with almost no carbonation. Very bland taste. Nothinging happening here, which sucks ass cause I was really in a mood for a good ESB. Nothing special about this and not bitter enough. Naven (883), Poway, California, USA

Other than Ballast Point Calico, this is my favorite ESB to date. Good stuff. WeeHeavySD (3042), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 1, 2006 On Cask at Alesmith for the release of 2004 Barrel Aged Numbskull. The beer poured dark amber with a big fluffy head. Although I’ve had in tap and on bottle before it was extra special on cask and really tasted nice with a good hoppy bitter bite. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 1, 2006 This beer poured with no head at all--like water, literally. The mouthfeel is too watery for me, too. The taste and color were nice, but I think maybe ESB just isn’t one of my favorite styles. I should say that the taste was good and the beer was very drinkable, JohnnyJ (1353), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 31, 2006 My first alesmith, and it was good. Pours an amber with small, if any, off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, and floral notes. Flavors of sweet malt, caramel, a little bit of citrus, and earthiness. Smooth with only a small amount of hop bitterness. Best ESB I’ve had yet.
