Commercial Description:
Bright copper color, sparkling clarity, and good foam retention when properly served. Appealing Brussels lace. Deep toasty/caramelly malt balanced by spicy/fruity hop flavors accented by fruit esters resulting from fermentation with a championship yeast strain. The aroma is subtle and reflects the flavor with malt, hop and fruit (ester)/fermentation characteristics. Smooth, medium-bodied. Easy drinking with no harsh or astringent sensations.

This is the first real beer i have tried. I spent most of my life just drinking MGD, Mickeys and those type of beers. I cam across this website and decided i would go get myself a good beer and see what i have been missing out on. I found out AleSmith was reputaple and was very near me so i went down and picked up this and two others. I enjoyed this one alot. It poured an ambery/light brown with a small tan head. Flavor had a hint of caramel and some others. Overall i enjoyed this much more than any of the "piss beers" and cant wait to try more.

Lightly hazed dark amber color with a smaller foamy light tan head. Aromas of earthy malt, dough, flowers (rose and petunia) and fruit (apricots). Interesting aromas that don’t seem to mix well with me. Seems oxidized (papery), but this should be a reasonably fresh bottle. Earthy english malts hit the flavor sensors running. Mild floral hops and a slightly strong citric and licorice flavors balance the malts. Yeasty flavors some in late and dry thinks out. A middle of the road type bitter to me.

Tiny hiss as the cap come off, pouring a clear, opulent copper color with a short, creamy tan head and cascading lace. Aroma is nice, deep and rich, pronounced with baguettes, honeyed hops, caramel, toffee chews and a scant trace of unrefined cocoa. Flavor resonates well. Pecans, pralines, barnyard barley and oats. Numerous, harmonious nutty and sweet libations. Cedar chest woodsy smoothness with a subtle piney bitterness, rounded out with sweetening from English toffee and butterscotch. Smooth and sublime palate feel. Carbonation is toned down but that’s clearly intended. Finishes with toffee and a calming bitterness that seems to perform a tiny titillating socket dance on each individual taste bud. Tasty stuff. Thanks to tpkenned for the bottle!

Thanks to Peter of AleSmith for opening and sharing a bottle at GABF Dark golden amber color tall off white small bubbled head w/ great lacing. English smell light carmel light toffee very smooth. Smooth light creamy palate. Very smooth taste lightly bitter w/ a solid malt back. Everything about this beer was well balanced and smooth.. a perfect session beer.

Orange/amber in colour with a slightly lower than average carbonation level. Aromas are quite fruity from both the yeast and the fruity-floral English (maybe Goldings) hops. There’s a good balance between the caramel malt and hop flavors, and some additional mineral and yeast notes too. The mouth feel is quite unusual: very smooth and rounded... almost salty, but not overly heavy. It was great with steak.

Pours a darker copper with a frothy cream-colored head. Aroma of malts and yeast. Taste is a lighter ESB, with a pleasant bitterness. Stong malt and yeast make for a crisp bite with an easy aftertaste. Doubles as a great marinade for streaks.

Reddish-bronze with a fine head and light carbonation. Great, precise malt/grain characteristics blend seamlessly with fruity Burton yeast notes and crisp, even bitterness. A grand achievement in a seemingly simple ESB. Few beers of this style posess the clear, claculated flavors and overall freshness found here.

Still not an ESB fan. This is better than most right up there with Rogue Brutal Bitter, but still not an ESB fan. Clear copper pour with almost no head. Aromas were malty with some toffee notes. Flavors were dryer with a bit of hops finish, bu mostly caramel malts. Acceptable beer
