| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Sampled both vintages yeha night. Thanks to MrBendo and HopDog. I really didn’t find a whole lot of difference between these two. Both still seemed quite hot with the alcohol a good bit more noticable in the 51/124 version that the 69/280. Flavors both had some big oaky vanilla, dark fruits, and carmel malts with the 69/280 being a good bit more subdued on the bourbon. Both great!! Rating more based on the 69/280 which had much less of an alcohol flavor. holdenn (1441), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Aroma of wood, vanilla, cherry, bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, and figs. Flavor of vanilla, caramel, oak, light chocolate, toffee, and some fruit. An excellent old ale that I could easily drink regularly, if that was possible. Thanks Walt! drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Either that or it was provided generously by Walt. Huge oaked aroma. Man it is fucking sexy. Taste is oaky smooth, slightly sugary and old hops. This is caramel oak, vanilla, hops, slightly fizzy and fucking good. Solid beer.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 31, 2007 Bottle #35/124, shared by Styles. Murky orange-brown body, thin cream head. Aroma of heavy prune, caramel, and alcohol, in addition to oxidized sherry notes and faded bitter, grapefruity hops. Oak present but subdued by the heavy body. Oak and bourbon present more strongly in the body, which is prickly and harsh, with big alcohol and sticky, sweet malts, with strong caramel and prune notes. This stuff bites my tongue. Pretty rough and hot, and I’m not sure age will improve this beer greatly. That said, I wasn’t a big fan of the original Decadence, so I’m not surprised I didn’t enjoy this more than I did.
