750, capped and foiled. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! What an awesome treat! Jet black. Humongous, dense, creamy tan head. Stringy lace and plenty of it. Enormous candy vanila bourbon nose, maybe a little chocolate there. Creamy medium body. Tons of sweet vanilla bourbon all over the mid-palate, with, again, a little chocolate. Overly sweet and massively out of balance toward the bourbon. Tough to fish out the porter under it all. Needs coherence.

Vanilla, oak, bourbon, dark fruit, chocolate. Complex. Hot alcohol presence, moderately sweet. Very bourbon on the nose. Thick, rich mouthfeel. Its boozy and bourbon-y but hey... I love bourbon.

Bottle thanks to BMan1113VR. Black with a good sized beige head. Aroma is like smelling a block of wood soaked in bourbon. Taste is of bourbon, roasted malts, wood, vanilla, dark fruits, and chocolate.

Bottle shared by decaturstevo at PPRBSG09. Pours a cloudy brown with a tan head. Aroma is very boozy with lots of bourbon. Flavor is equally a bourbon mess. The bourbon dominated this beer completely. This beer is so one-sided I can’t understand how this gets such high ratings. 6/4/5/3/12 (3.0/5)

Bottle 292 shared by Sparky27 @ Hellbilly’s Holiday Tasting...THANKS ERIC!!! Pure ebony pour with a 1/2 inch creamy eggshell head that diminishes into a film that defiantly stays until the last sip. Incredibly fragrant. Vanilla, oak, bourbon, cocoa, and caramel fill the nostrils. Ignites the palate...rich, chocolaty, and complex. So much going on. Maple syrup, toasted marshmallow, and brown sugar. Thick and viscous. WOW!!! AleSmith ROCKS!!!

Courtesy of the BMan1113VR. Black with a tan head. Big boozy bourbon vanilla, bitter bakers chocolate aroma. Medium body. Rich, smooth flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla whiskey, with some black malt bitterness to balance. Good brew.

Bottle: Murky bronze with hardly any head. Overly sweet boozy aroma- vanilla, honey, raisin, maple, alcohol burn- slick and cloying body. Hugely sweet and hot blocking any nuance. Bombarded with maple, vanilla, raisin, hot burning booze. This can use some more oxidation, but that may not even save it.

Bottle shared by decaturstevo at Peter’s NY gathering - thank you so much! - never in a million years did I think I would get to try this beer - wow, the porter-ish qualities of this beer have been changed dramatically - nose of toasted oak, cinnamon, and coconut, with some spicy alcohol underneath - alcohol warmth in the flavor, but no burn - subdued oak, toasted coconut, bourbon - these qualities are kept in check, though, and never overpower, like in most BA beers - some oxidation is apparent, but it adds to the depth, like when you taste it in an old british barleywine - a solid BA beer.
