Shared this with Yourdarklord, rooftoprogue, landseer, and my wife. Pours black with frothy brown head. What a complex aroma of molasses, oak, chocolate, and coffee. Nice mouthfeel, not as thick as I was expecting, which makes this so dangerous. I could have drank the bottle in no time. A lot of the aroma carries into the flavor. Flavor of coffee, dark roasted malt, with an mild accent of bourbon, all nicely blended. Pleasantly mild bitter and coffee finish, with some slight dry woody notes. Lingers very nicely without being sticky or cloying. Alcohol very well hidden. Peter did the right thing and released this when it was ready. No need to cellar, it’s ready right now. Simply put, and outstanding beer that is worth the hype, and then some. Thanks Edward for lettting us trash your kitchen and leave without cleaning up! IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Pours a dark black color with a mocha colored head. Head diminishes to only a ring around the glass. Smell of coffee and soft bourbon, maybe some hints of chocolate and oak. The bourbon is nicely balanced in their, it’s not overpowering as so many other barrel aged stouts have been. Taste is simply exceptional. Roastiness adds a nice touch to the dark chocolate and bourbon. Hints of vanilla and oak, but I am once again impressed on how well the bourbon is integrated. It’s like a soft, smooth, high quality bourbon barrel was used; it’s not harsh at all. A little less than full bodied, with a soft amount of carbonation. A pure joy to drink, I am forever greatful for being given the opportunity to try this. VikingHammer (363), Lynnfield, Massachusetts, USA

( i think he’s missing a kidney at this point!). 2006 bottle # 193/233. pours just next to blacker than my soul with a creamy tan head and plenty of spotty lacing. aromas of fruit, light bourbon, milder coffee than regular version ( :-( = sad ), wood, warm and delicioso! if you ate a hershey kiss right after a swig of whiskey it would taste like this!... chocolate candy, nutty, coffee, wood, soft bourbon, really robustly roasted grain, mmm. big time aftertaste of of coffee and chocolate hangs onto the tongue. luscious mouth feel... slick and smooth. really hearty and warming... it makes me want to curl up and sleep ( after i’m done drinking it of course!)...
