Caramel, yeast, malt, sweet fruit round it out. A very nice malty, sweet taste. Caramel notes are probably the most prominent. Gets fruity sweeter towards the finish. Very smooth indeed. One of the better old ales Ive had. I think they do a good job of keeping some life to this beer, as Ive had some old ales that were just dead. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA

I preferred this one just by my own personal preference. Poured light brown, slightly sweet fruity taste, maybe caramel. Definitely can taste the alcohol! mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Bottle. Mahogany-brown body with a soapy white head. The aroma is pungent- yeasty cheese, sugar, sweet bread, and caramel. Very sweet flavour consisting of caramel, wood, and loads of alcohol. Barleywine-esque sugars and heftiness. I think, as others have mentioned, this might be a bit too young. stubby (326), Santee, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Thick, with a slightly tongue numbing strangeness from a combination of bittering hops and alcohol. Decent caramel aroma, nice malt body. Nothing terribly special from an outstanding brewer. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
