Poured a ruby/brown color with good head and nice lacing. Nose is huge on vanilla. Flavor is surprisingly still boozy, sweet stone fruits, figs, lots of toffee on the finish.

Thanks to Odeed for sharing this, and letting me crash at his place! Pours deep opaque ruddy brown. with no head. Bourbon and dark fruit nose. Same in the flavor with a smooth mouthfeel.

Huge thanks to moejuck for sending me this beer. I have been waiting a very long time to try it. After joining ratebeer the first half of ‘06 I realized by late in ‘06 I needed this beer but couldn’t find it anywhere in the SD county area. Thank you Joe. Pours copper brown with light copper edges and thin tan head. The aroma is yummy rich dark fruitiness with dates, prunes and mashed aged cherries blending together and mixing with a nice layer of caramel goodness and some booziness. The taste has smooth barleywine notes with a pulse of smooth sweetness from dates, figs, prunes, raisins and minced sugar stewed cherries. Toward midway a thin river of caramel is noticed just as blunted pine hops with aged bitterness come to the surface. It smooths out even more into the finish with dark sweet grape jam, smooth chewy malts and fading aged pine hops. This was everything I was hoping for. YUM!

750ml bottle. Been wanting to open this one for a while. Pours deep brown with a reddish hue, a 1 finger thick beige head left behind some nice lacing. Tons of toffee and caramel on the nose as well as some dried apricots and peaches. Flavor was quite sweet toffee, candied tree fruits and a touch of booze. It seem like this beer might have hit its peak about 6 months ago, light oxidation in both the aroma and flavor, still a killer beer none the less!

bottle courtesy of Ibrew2or3’s generous 05-07 vertical! Poured an amber brown. BOOZE! Love it. Smelled musky, sweet, fruity and very malty. Flavor was warming alcohol, tons of rich dark fruits, sweet malts and toffee. Smooth finish. Amazing beer!

Bottle thanks to Ibrew2or3 for the share! Poured a dark, cloudy honey color with a thin beige head. Nose is quite boozy with hints of over-ripe fruit rasin maybe, wood, and hops. Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Flavor is vinous with strong caramel malt notes, rasin or prune, wood, and quite a bit of tongue burning alcohol. Dry boozy finish with notes of sherry. Nice.

courtesy of ibrew2or3. pours copperish / brown with thin off white head, and nice golden lacing. Aroma caramel malts, plenty of dark fruits for a resinous flavors. Taste, caramel malts, grainy, light bitter finish, some cocoa nibs, insanely smooth and drinkable with a toffee like palate.
