Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

Pours a thick ruby with a very solid, very persistent tan head. The aroma is caramel, sweet malts, and some very round, finely balanced hopiness. The flavor is similar, with more butterscotch and maybe a bit of peach. The hops and malt sweetness are just about perfect in terms of balance. The alcohol lends a bit of warmth to the finish, but the alcohol is otherwise hardly noticeable. Very hardy, creamy mouthfeel. Goes down velvety smooth. Excellent brew.

750 ml bottle-Pours a dark ruby red body with anice tight off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, sweetness, and hops. Taste of the same with some toffee and butterscotch thrown in. This full bodied brew is very well balanced and hides the alcohol very well. My first Alesmith and looking forward to many more.

Rating no. 500. Bottle at Ulfborg RB tasting. Thanks alot dedollewaitor. My first experiance with Alesmith but absolutely not the last. This is heavy shit. It poured hazy amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma was heavy malt and hops with a fruity background. Flavour is powerfull with lots of malt and grassy hops. Soft mouthfeel. Great brew!

Bottle @ TFODRBSG, Ulfborg, 2008.
[thank you, dedollewaitor]
Pours deep red with a great, creamy, yellowish head. Great lacing and fine duration. Aroma is sweet, lots of sticky hoppiness, some port and oak. Super light carbonation, great mouthfeel. Flavour has good maltiness at first, but some sugary feel creeps in and ruins it a bit for me. Lots of hops to balance it out - it just feels too light and sugary to be exceptional. Still great, though.

Tasted at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Bottle pours a dark ruby color with a off white head. Has an aroma that makes me think of butterscotch and sweet caramel. Has a medium to heavy body. Taste is very nice. Has a stinging sensation from the carbonation. And the flavors of caramel, toffee, butterscotch are in abundence. Overall this is a very nice brew.

Bottle from a trade with Rallison. Managed to sit on this for six whole months before breaking it out, looking at it longingly at each visit down to the cellar, sometimes rubbing it when it looked lonely or sad. Worth the wait. Dark red-tinted brown with big electric light yellow head. Truly beautiful, and amazing carbonation for a two-year old bottle. Big boozy malty aroma with some lovely hop spice as well. Looks and smells thick. Lovely strong notes of butterscotch, toffee, and caramel as well as light citrus hops throughout. A wonderfully balanced and very big beer. Loved it.
