Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

100th rating! Bottle. Pours a dark, reddish-brown with a good-size tan head that lingers. Big aroma of molasses, dates, figs, dried berries, malt, yeast. Huge sweet taste of molasses, dark fruits, yeast, and malt. Lingering sweetness with a hint of sharpness. Rich and wonderful.

Wow this is quite an ass kicker. Great application of how flavors can be shared, this is a rare treat of perfect balance between maltiness and hoppiness. The hops are definitely in the forefront, with the malt background holding everything together with just a hint of sweet spice, but all in its due time, nothing trying to upstage any of the other flavors.

5-24-08 bottle shared by the great Miketd!
Dense dark red brown with a nice thick fluffy creamy beige head. Smell is malt and hops with the smallest hint of alcohol. Flavor is hops and malt and yummy! Palate is nice and well fitted here. Balanced and very well made. Great how well this beer has held up.

Bottled. A hazy dark amber beer with and orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of over ripe fruits as well as lesser notes of spices. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle courtesy of Miketd, I believe. Thanks man!
Pours a deep, reddish crimson color. Smell is rich, red ale like intense sweetness. Taste is slightly hoppy up front still, with a dense red ale like maltiness. Nice, crisp and very fresh tasting, and still comes across very balanced. This was fantastic!

25.4 oz bottle. Dense brown with a puffy tan head that settles to a skin. Nose is soft caramel, raisin and fresh bread. Tingly and tangy with fine carb and a creamy body. Taste is mocha, caramel and candied orange peel. Dry finish with a touch of bitter ginger. Aptly named, very good.

Bottle. Light muddy brown pour with a good amount of beige head. Aroma is yeasty, sugary malt, light roast on the sugar, and some citrus. Flavor is pretty much the same; a nice blend. Soft palate and good overall, but a little grassy yeast (or hops?) in the finish.

Thanks, JohnC! Cloudy dark reddish-brown with an off-white head (no, Shag, I can’t pour...and stop trying to blow into my ear; it’s freaking me out). One day, you’ll find someone. Yeah, the 10% ABV kinda bit me. Dark fruits were really prominent as this brew warmed. Some bubble gum. Very nice!
