Sweet, sugar, and hints of hops on the nose. So many flavors, where do I begin. Chocolate, caramel, fruity, hoppy, smokey, I mean this thing has it all. A true WOW beer. cbeers21 (567), Miami, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Very excited to try this brew on Christmas eve, a nice treat to enjoy on a cold night. Pours a breautiful red, ruby brown with a sizeable and fluffy head. Floral hoppy, puney scents with grapefruit and pineapple come off at first, but evolve into berry and chocolate notes as the session went on developing smoked and meaty aromas too. The smooth toffee and smokey flavors are present in this wonderfully bodied ale, with citrusy, cocolate malty berries all around, yeilding a faint woodsy dryness. This brew has a lot going on and lots of complex and evolving layers. This brew proved to be a stomper, as its strength shows an dwas very well disguised, and exceedingly drinkable beer. VERY nice brew indeed. BOLTZ7555 (1080), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Another great one from Alesmith!!! Rich ruby red hue with a frothy caramel head that refuses to die. Thick lacing coats the glass as I quickly polish it off. Sweet hints of toffee and dark brown sugar with a hoppy finish...the flavor is intense yet not at all overpowering. It is an already great amber...on steroids!!! The 10% abv is cleverly hidden in taste, but not in effect!!! Wish this wasn’t just a seasonal release!!! turbo (1254), Arizona, USA
| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Bottle poured a deep dark caramel color with a beautiful thick,creamy tan head and heavy sheet of lacing that lasted for the entire drinking of the beer. How could anyone give less than a 5 for Appearance?
Rich aroma of caramel and chocolate, citrus and pine.
Flavor is just fucking awesome! Sweet caramel and brown sugar. Light citrus and alcohol with a rich, thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Delicious beer with a nice warming glow coming over me as I type this at 6:45 am. Rich, malty, candylike finish...or maybe I’m getting a buzz already...awesome beer! MatchesForHire (25), Westborough, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 6, 2008 750 ml bottle, courtesy of Brock_Landers via trade. Pours a titilating ruby red with a frothy head. Aroma is of sweet, dark, sun-dried fruit. Toffe, caramel, and syrupy plums make up the bulk of the flavor profile. Body is fuller than most, bordering on syrupy but falling just short. Maltiness balanced well with a solid earthy, floral hop note. Wonderful brew. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Bottle from cbkschubert. Wonderful intense and yet somehow balanced aroma. Boatloads of sweet butter toffee malt, caramel, vanilla, wet oak, pine and citrus hops. Ginger snaps. Pours dark, thick amber. The thick red/brown head lasts forever and leaves spotty lacing. Flavor is nice, but not as intense as the aroma. Butter toffee, slightly burnt caramel, creme brulee, oak, spicy and piney hops. Mostly full bodied. Thick, fairly sweet but far from cloying. This is very nice and I think will do well with another year or so under its belt. Thanks a ton Craig! Snojerk321 (1955), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 4, 2008 Bottle from O’Brien’s San Diego. What a beer! Poured a deep chocolate brown with a slight ruby hue. Head was fairly small, off white and had amazing lace to it. Ok, this is going to sound weird. When I took short, quick sniffs.....I could seriously smell dog food.....maybe I was high. The rest of the nose yielded candied fruits, chocolate, toffee, some hops and a touch of spice. Flavors very similar to the nose. A great brew! 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle: Deep caramel, brown and ruby hued, large rocky light beige head, clumpy lacing.   Nose yields a bit of mustiness, slight
earthen malt and hop, perhaps a touch of soil and caramel.   There is an alcohol presense, but its not distracting.   Imperial Red or
Imperial Amber would fit this one well.   Big malt base, earthy, with flavors of caramel malts and citrus rind.   Smooth, and very
warming.   Full bodied, somewhat heavy mouthfeel.   I think this one certainly lives up to the name, Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale.
Finishes fairly heavy on the malts, as expected, with a decent resiny hop presense.   Clean, with lingering alcohol and citrus peel
hop like attributes.   Very much a big beer, and certainly one that didn’t let me down.   One of the better ones I have had for a
while.   Thanks Bill for this one!
