Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Pours a slightly hazy, orangey brown with a dense, light brown head leaving some lacework. Fat aroma of overripe fruit and hops. Surprisingly this isn’t overly full-bodied. Intense aromas of raisins and overripe fruit and then classical accents of American aroma hops in the finish. Good but not outstanding. 280907

Bottle. Pours reddish amber, a bit cloudy. Huge, frothy brown head. Sweetish malt in the nose. Tastes quite sweet and "big", finish is dry enough due to the ethanol flavor that lingers. Hops in bitterness and aroma seem fairly subdued.

Pours a reddish brown in color. A very nice and frothy head on the pour. Looks good. Smell is mostly hops, both piney and citrusy. Taste is all over the place. This is one interesting beer. This comes across as a IPA/red/BSA combo. Huge malt backbone and what tastes like a belgian yeast being used. This one kept me thinking the entire bottle. Well made beer.

Bottle. A ruby beer with a big beige head. The aroma is of rye bread, caramel malt, light fruity and hops. so is the taste but with some alcohol. Medium to full body with a rye bread finish.

On cask at Alesmith’s September 2007 BA release. Excellent. Let me say it again. Excellent. I haven’t had the bottle yet to compare it. Mellow, sweet, light carbonation consistent with a cask. Dark amber color. Small bubble ring around the edge of the glass. Awesomely easy to drink. I wish I had a cask at home myself. Hop bitterness/aroma is mild. Sweet malty caramel taste is complex.

bottle....aroma: sweet, sugary caramel malt with the addition of some pine hop bitterness. emphasis is more on the malt....appearance: dark cinnammon brown w/ one finger off-white head....taste: sweet caramel malt accompanied by essence of some subdued sharp pine.......need to try this one again soon.

wow, THANKS to UncelJedi for this, talking about whipping out a big boy at a tasting. anyway, poured into a tulip. pours a flat cloudy amber with no head. flat malty aroma, smooth, light, and good. flat, light palate, light finish to a malty front. strong, but good and complex, Alesmith is great, oh and this is 300....
