Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

Slightly cloudy dark reddish brown pour, small tan head. Aroma of dried fruit and candi sugar with slight spiciness. Some hops on the nose as well. Mouthfeel is slightly thick, very active carbonation. Big flavors of candied fruit, licorice, and spice. Nice hop finish.

750 ml bottle shared by sliffy & pud - Pours dark ruby with a huge tan head that stays very well and laces the glass in layers. Aromas of lots of caramel, grapefruit, some pine, raisin, and a good dose of toffee. Flavor is lots of caramel and toffee, but some raisin shines through as well as some orange and tangerine notes. Soft mouthfeel and very easy to drink for a 10% beer. Not one sign of the alcohol can be found. Pretty tasty...

Thick brownish amber body with a normal looking creamy beige head. Sweet nutty fruit aroma. Simultaneously fruity and malty. Thanks to Ezra for this one!

Pours a deep dark red, slightly cloury with a 1/2 finger tan creamy espresso head. Aroma of tons of caramel and toffee and definitely some alcohol. Flavor is very malty and carmelly, some vinous fruit flavors like prunes and raisins. Toffeelike and very very creamy, medium hop bitterness, hoppy grapefruity finish with moderate alcohol warmeth that really balances it out. More barleywine than anything.

(750ml Bottle) Pours a cloudy amber-brown body with a medium-sized beige head. Aroma of toffee, grapefruit, nuts, chocolate, and dried dark fruit. Has a malty toffee flavored backbone with cocoa, some dark fruit, and citric hoppiness.

Poured a slightly hazed deep red with a medium sized creamy beige head. Thick sweet fruity aroma. Caramel, sugar, dark fruits, earthy, and piney. Fruity malt flavor with a good amount of sweetness but without being thick or sticky. The malt has some nuttiness as well as caramel. Nice warmth with a medium to full body.

Beautiful mahogany color with a rich, off-white/beige head. Nearly opaque. The aroma is rich and full too. It has lots of sweet plums and figs, with a gentle balance of malts and hops. Caramel and cocoa pair well with this somewhat vinous brew - very complex and hearty, with a delicate earthiness. I’m very impressed.
