Commercial Description:
Imperial Evil Dead Red Ale (also known as Dead by Dawn)

Alesmith's Decadence Anniversary Ale was originally brewed in 2005 to celebrate our first decade in business. The brewers at Alesmith had such a great time concocting Decadence that they decided to make it an annual event, and brew a new style each year to commemorate our Anniversary. The second release in the Decadence series, Dead by Dawn, was inspired by our own seasonal specialty ale, Evil Dead Red. What if we made it bigger, bolder and even more evil? The result is Decadence 2006 Dead by Dawn, a devilicious auburn-colored ale with a complex sweet caramel maltiness balanced by the just the right amount of hop bitterness. Dead by Dawn showcases an enticing hop flavor and intense hop aroma that rounds out this rich, full-bodied ale. Join our Anniversary Celebration with Decadence. You'll soon discover why Alesmith is known around the world as the place to find Legendary Craftsmanship.

Bottle thanks to Drewbeerme? Dark brown with red/brown with large hazy and large creamy, long lasting beige head. ARoma is oxidized, medium sweet malt, some hops. Sweet hop flavor and caramel, tobacco. Medium and creamy. Way too sweet.

22oz bottle. Huge thanks to Freddie at Beverages 4 Less for sending me something from his own private stash. Pours a dark mahogany with a nise big thick head. Nose is intense molasses and caramel with some sweet fig and some brown sugar. Sadly due to the age this bottle has lost most of its balancing hop presence. There is enough there for this beer to still be very good but its probably not as balanced as it once was. Whats still there though still manages to be impressive. Somewhat akin to an english barley wine with huge chocolate covered raisin up front, a malty sweetness in the middle, A fairly balanced finish with a hint of caramelized brown sugar. Awesome still even past its prime.

Muddy brown with a thick bubbly head. Molasses hints with a bit of caramel aroma. Malty caramel taste as well with a faintness of hops. Good stuff (thanks Stan The Beer Man).

750ml thanks to moejuck. Cap almost took my eye out as I popped it. Pours a dark red brown with a large dark tan head. Very nice retention and some lacing. Aroma is cookie malts, biscuity malts, caramel and a touch of oxidization. Flavor is again all malt, sweet cookie and caramel, nutty flavors peek through somewhere in the middle. Finish is fairly long with, you guessed it, more malt. Plate is full bodied and extremely rich and velvety. Good carbonation. I imagine this would have been stellar in the past, but it has lost any hop character it may have once possessed and is showing a bit of oxidization. Thanks Again Joe!

Bottle from Lonehill. Pours a mostly clear very dark red with a large tan head. Aroma is intensely malty with mostly strong caramel and some nuttiness. Flavor is not quite is good, as any hop character is pretty much nonexistent at this point. Very sweet and nutty with bown sugar and cooked fruits. Full bodied and almost syrupy with good carbonation. Maybe a little past it’s prime, I would have liked to try it a year ago. Damn, this IS good Tim!

Pours a medium dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aromas of floral hops, malt, and some wine character. This beer tastes silky smooth, with understated floral, slightly piny hops, sweet malt, and green apple. Age has mellowed the hops and created a smooth, well balanced beer that was a pleasure to drink. Exceptional.

Hazy auburn pour with a persistent ecru head. Very rich, hoppy, nutty caramel aroma. Medium sweet flavor with a light spiciness that lingers afterward. Excellent.

750ml bottle from B4Less. Dark hazy brown pour with a light tan head. Very sweet malty aroma, the hops have faded quite a bit, very nice still though. Very tasty, the hops are gone, but this is still very good. Still sweet, but nice. Another huge miss by mspindler, damn this is good Mike.
