| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Bottle. Body-nearly opaque red with a lasting dense half inch head. Nose-big malt, wet malt, LME, spent grains from the bottom of a lauter tun, very stale hops, wet cardboard. Taste-cheap barleywine, fig, medium bitter, some tannins, medium hot, cherry, brown sugar, tea leaves, definitely sweet, very much like an American barleywine, hops all the way through, syrupy, aged barley wine, cola syrup. Nice, but too sweet. IlanMan (817), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

Tastes of Caramel, vanilla, raisons, dates and other dark fruits. Did not notice any oxidation in the cold stored bottle. BrotherGrendel (583), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 9, 2009 A- Pours a cloudy, dark red/brown hue with a huge off-white creamy/craggy head and foamy thick lacing that sticks to the glass
S- Nose is of big sweet malts, primarily caramel and some toffee/brown sugar, some citrus hops in the background, dark fruits and a hint of alcohol as well, very unique and well-balanced aroma that is quite remarkable
T- Initial taste is of fruits (cherries mostly) and followed quickly by caramel malts, that open up to citrus hops, finishes with some bittering hops and a warm alcohol burn that lingers, truly exceptional
M- Full-bodied complex strong ale, thick and syrupy texture that coats the tongue, nicely carbonated
D- Big, bold Imperial Red/Strong Ale that has a high abv that is best enjoyed in smaller quantities, Decadence is another top-notch offering from Peter Zein and the brewers at Alesmith, I would rank this as one of top beers in this style and would definitely pick it up again in the future ratman197 (3196), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Poured hazy dark brown with a moderate to large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy toasted toffee, woody and prune with a small alcohol aroma. Full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Heavy balanced toasted prune and malt flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration.
This is a standout beer. WeeObese (18), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Pours a deep amber almost mahogany with a small but dense tan head. Smells of sweet malt, slight sherry/port oxidation, carmel covered apples, and a slight hop aroma. Hop flavor followed by a rich carmel malitiness and a slight roasty astringency followed buy a muted but still noticeable hop bitterness. Nice body and good carbonation for the style. Really liked this beer, too bad it was the only one left in my buddy’s cellar
