Sugary-sweet on the nose, with beefstock and piney, resiny and tropical-fruity hops. The flavor is sweet and malty too, with beefstock, some spicyness and piney hops giving decent bitterness. Full-bodied, almost sticky, slightly warming and effervescent. Bitter end. A lovely and demanding beer combining sweetness, warmth and bitterness nicely. (080823) Pastor (509), Maine, USA

The aromas are very malt forward the hops are all but gone now from the nose. What is left is a lot of dark fruits and spice in the aromas
The flavor of sweet malt and dark fruits bust right out of this one. A great smooth sipper really enjoyable
I drink this again if it was around but I don’t expect to see it anymore. great drinking experience all around yobdoog (1432), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

So good but very strong. Had a hint of wood funky almost sour but more on the sweet fruity side. Rich body with hints of vanilla and brown sugar. Taste also has a pleasant almond taste. I really enjoyed this one. mcbackus (742), Merritt Island, Florida, USA

Pours a cloudy brown, with a thick tan head. I would say the beer is a little oxidized, but is still very amazing. Nose is big with caramel, molasses, brown sugar, and just a little bit of hops. Great flavor, little bit of dark fruit in there as well. Freakin awesome. AgentSteve (1374), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2008 Attractive burnt caramel pour with no head. Nose is sweet and dried fruit, while the flavor goes more rye malt and iced tea. A bit oxidized. I feel bad for sitting on this, possibly for too long. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2008 This poured brown in color with mahogony highlights and a moderate beige head of medium-sized bubbles. The nose showed off sweeter scents of toffee, caramel malt, fudge and molasses. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with good carbonation and oxidized flavors. While I don’t mind the oxidation it seems that this has overshadowed the complexity. AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Ruby red with a viscous tan head. big aroma is oxidized with sweet bready malts. Medium body and softly carbonated. Flavor is big and bold toasted caramel sweet yeasty bread. Tasted a little bit of hops in a burp. Finishes with a spicy alcohol bitterness. Mosl of the time i enjoy aged, oxidized brews, so this one was fine by me.
