Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar; more subtle hints of coffee, roasted malt, and fruit/cherries. Really smooth and solid flavor. Hinds the alcohol masterfully. Very nice and soft palate. Taste of chocolate (a little bit bitter chocolate), vanilla/sugar, and wood/earth. Some caramel and fruit. Just a really enjoyable beer. danielcurtis81 (906), San Diego, California, USA

Carmel and malts on the nose. Flavors very intense and good. Great roasted malt flavors. Chocolate flavors add a lot and hops put round out the party nicely. Great beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Dark Brown with a thick, foamy yellowish-tan head. Aroma is sugary and syrupy, some sweet fruit in there, vanilla, and a touch of caramel. Flavor is strong chocolate and caramel, roasted malt, fruit, wood in the aftertaste. Thick and a little sticky and salty, it’s also a little boozy thanks to an obvious alcohol. Definitely not for drinking on hot, summer days. BuckeyeBoy (1670), Boise, Idaho, USA

Strong dark malty aroma; thick like a woolen coat. Chocolate with hints of molasses. Starts out like chocolate syrup, thins out as alcohol kicks in. Smooth chocolate liqueur beer. Bitter chocolate, tasty, alcohol settles down after that first sip.
