Commercial Description:
The third offering in our series of Decadence Anniversary Ales, is a big, rich Imperial Porter. Brewed to the parameters of a classic Porter, Decadence 2007 has the intense aromas of dark malt and chocolate complimented by a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is rich and malty, and balanced with just the right amount of English East Kent Goldings hops. Super dark, chocolately coffee pour with a frothy brown head. Aroma is just pure roasted coffee and chocolate malt with a little smoke. The mouthfeel is amazingly smooth but is pretty dry. But this beer was just too sweet for a porter in my eyes and didnt have a very good balance. It seemed to lack hop flavor which made it a bit one-dimensional.

750ml bottle poured a clear dark brown with red highlights and a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of hot cocoa with marshmallows, light earthiness and light roastiness. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, light vanilla, light fruittiness and hints of licorice and smoke with a smooth lingering bittersweet chocolate finish.

25 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown body, almost black, with a one finger foamy brown head. Very chocolaty nose, roast, coffee, yeastiness, and light alcohol. Reminds me of Hersheys Chocolate Syrup a little. Roasty flavor with lots of bitter chocolate and Hersheys Syrup. Finishes moderately bitter with a nice earthy yeastiness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a nice thick texture and pleasant soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, pretty solid, wish that the hops were a bit toned down though.

Bottle. Nice damn beer! Dark dark brown pour. Brown head. Aroma is chocolate and some very faint coffee hints. Flavor is hoppy and chocolate. Some light roasted notes are there as well. Very nice.

Pours almost black with no head. The nose is chocolate and roasted coffee. The flavor is more astringent and hot. Not very smooth on the palate. Disappointing.

750ml bottle. Short rating... Dark, oily brown pour with a thin khaki film. Bittersweet chocolate and lightly roasted coffee on the nose. A bit of dark fruits emerge as the beer warms. Bitter chocolate and cocoa powder on the tongue. Starts out nice but some astringent, bitter malt and spicy anise distracts. Bitter espresso, alcohol, vanilla extract on the finish. Slick and oily mouthfeel. Decent.
