I kept this for a special occasion, and no regrets. We poured the beer into the long Zot glasses and enjoyed ourselves. DeweyDell (155), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 9, 2007 750 mL bottle. Pours a dark orange-brown color with a decent-sized whitish head. The dark color and small particles floating about make it a little less clear than the commercial description would lead one to believe... but clear for the style I suppose Sweet aroma... caramel, alcohol, then an almost sour smell.... cherries. Taste is also sweet, complex, a little bit tart. Definitely good stuff. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 9, 2007 750ml. Pours a muddy, fiery ruby red color with a decently big, well retained beige head. Thick sheets of lace. Smell is authentically Belgian. Very Chimay Blue like. Yeasty, Belgiany, dark fruits, raisins, some sweet carmel. A little zesty. Impressive aroma. Taste is sweet, dark fruits and caramel. Not cloying at all. The tiniest hint of chocolate on the finish. Soft, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent body and carbonation. Alesmith is pretty amazing at getting styles just right. Another winner. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 30, 2007 25 oz bottle, via fordest I think. Pours a clear orangish amber with a one finger fizzy foamy off-white head that never fell below a full covering. Moderate visible carbonation. The nose is fruity malt with a heavy Belgian yeast influence. Some spiciness, light alcohol, and some resiny hops. Very fruity flavor with some caramel, candi sugar, and toffee malt, and heavy yeast influence. A little too much alcohol on the finish for me. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with a good bit of risidual sugars leaving a clingy slightly sticky finish. Very fizzy efforvescent carbonation. Overall, this really wasn’t my thing. AleSmith’s belgian offerings just pale in comparison to their others for me. yespr (12135), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Aroma is dusty and somewhat ashtray like, tobacco. Flavour is softly sweetend with a slight note of dried fruit. Softly sweet and not overly so. Ends with a warming alcohol finish. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 12, 2007 Bottle. Average beige thick and creamy like head that mostly diminished. Good display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Apricot, vetagbles, fruit, herbal, peach, caramel, grain, hint of sweet floral. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet and fruity flavor with a hint of acidic. Heavy fruity sweet finish that lingers. Amazing beer. Braudog (3762), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Bottle -- Poured a rich red color with an initial fizzle that quickly scattered. The aroma is stiff with brown sugar and alcohol. Richly flavored with heavy malt, raisin, and a sweet sugary twist, right before you get a light kick in the pants. Quite light in body and scarily easy to drink. Nicely done. (#3164, 10/29/2007) brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Good brew, malty, not as hoppy as thier other beers, also a bit fruity, I guess that can be expected with the belgian yeast.
