Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
AleSmith Grand Cru really needs to be tasted to be truly appreciated. Toasty, caramelly flavors, as well as flavors imparted by the Belgian yeast strain, predominate over a tapestry of subtle nuances. Winner of the blue ribbon at the 1999 California State Fair, it is a thing of beauty. It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Crystal clear (when served properly), with a toast-brown color. Flavor: Starts with the tangy flavor of our championship Belgian yeast, then fades to a medium-light flavor of vanilla, caramel and chocolate. Finishes dry and well-balanced with a slightly toasty flavor. Aroma: Vanilla and chocolate aromas predominate, along with the Belgian yeast characteristics. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Clean and crisp, medium-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content makes it feel like a fine wine.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep, clear reddish borwn with a moderate linen white head. Nice strong aroma of fresh fruit, along with some caramel and just a bit of sugar. The flavor is equally enjoyable but quite different than the aroma, with malt and caramel center stage along with lots of candi sugar. Slightly dry at the finish. The alcohol was very well hidden with only a hint of warmth at the swallow. Overall very nice.

Bottle. [thank you, after4ever]
My #1 Birthday beer!
Pours a wonderful, clear ruby with nearly no head. Aroma is malty, some red currants, caramel, earthiness, plums and overripe red apples. Some slight vanilla, coriander and hops as well. Quite vinious as well. Low carbonation, wonderful creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely balanced even if it is quite vinious. Lots of overripe, dried fruits (raisins, plums) with some Belgian sugar. Aftertaste is lingering with chocolate, lightly roasted malts and the red currants peeping through again. Really wonderful beer.

6-9 months old. Little to no head quickly dissipates to a minor lace. Aroma is of sweet overripe fruits. Flavor is sweet malty, raisin, ripe fruit, with a residual sweetness and caramel. Mouthfeel is sticky. Poured at about 50 degrees F, got much better as it approached 60 degrees.

Pours dark amber/brown, quickly dissipating head. Sweet malt, yeasty fruit and very akin to belgian brown in the nose. Excellent spice and dark fruit flavor, amazing belgian style output. Great alcohol component that lingers well in the finish.
