Let me say that this is an awsome beer. It was thick and chewy. Toasted malt and caramel was amazing noticable in it. Poured into my snifter and just was in awe. It wan’t too sweet, but had just enough sweet flavor to really hit the sweet tooth. very smooth. Another great beer from Alesmith

Dec 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep burgundy orange, brown body with nice white lacing. Aroma sharp alcohol. Taste is candy apple and sharp alc.

Dec 26, 2009 The first beer of BQ’10 purchased from half time in Poughkeepsie. Pour is deep hazy burgundy. Tastes of Belgian spice, yeast, Apples, dark malts and nuts. A bit boozy.

Dec 21, 2009 Had this paired with some homemade spicy lasagna and it complimented the andouille sausage ragu perfectly with its own spiciness and well-balanced body. Dark auburn pour, nice boozy warming after-affects with dark fruit flavors and some spice. Maybe my favorite Alesmith out of the line-up I’ve had so far.

Dec 13, 2009 Bottle [750] shared with MatSciGuy. Brightred/garnet color with a lasting fizzy head. Modest dusty aroma, caramel and dark fruit tastes. Light and spritsy on the tongue. I really like this beer - it’s got a good bit of complexity but it’s very well balanced so that no taste or aroma dominates the senses.

Dec 13, 2009 Bottle (shared with Angeloregon)... Poured amber/ruby with a thick, foamy, beige head. Nose was pretty neutral with an even spread of dark fruits, twigs, malts, and yeast notes. Slightly over carbonated with an even expanding foamy texture on the palate. Flavors of dark fruits, like cherry and figs -- yeast, warming alcohol tones before a spiced finish. Not sure how old the bottle was, but I think it was starting to turn past its prime.

Dec 13, 2009 [Bottle] Pours clear garnet with a medium beige head that lingers nicely. Aroma is light and understated with lots of musty character, some dark fruits, and belgian yeast. I think I can also get a hint of noble hop in there. Flavor takes on a lot of the same character as the nose, with a light tartness that lingers on the finish. Slightly vinous and dry, this one also has a lot of fizzy carbonation.

Dec 13, 2009 I count the packaging as appearence in this one. sparkling ruby red. oxidized aroma, like sherry, apples, this is not what I expected. Flavour is fruity and slightly sour, again this is unexpected and initially I am disappointed. the beer grows on me throughout the bottle though and by the end of it I start realizing that it is not too old, off or oxidized, this is all intentional and the beer goes from being disappointing to a pleasant surprise.

Dec 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours opaque brown with a quickly dissipating head even though the large bubbles keep flowing. The aroma consists dark fruit and candi sugar along with a bit of apple. Taste is fairly sweet with a sourness that lingers along with the tingling from this beer’s strong carbonation.
