zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Nov 4, 2009 (bottle - 750 ml) Hazy amber pour with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is loaded with bread malts and mild yeast along with some light spice. Flavor is smooth and sweet at the front with a nice bready middle. Some light spice with a lot of yeast near the middle. High quality beer. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Nov 2, 2009 750ml bottle from K&L Redwood City. Pours hazy golden with a large foamy white head that lasts. Aroma is bready pale malt and Belgian yeast along with citrus and coriander with other spice. Flavor is bready malt, yeast, candi sugar, light fruits, slightly tart citrus, and loads of coriander and spice. Complex with just a hint of alcohol. This bottle was from early 2009 and I think this would get even better with more age. Body is medium and palate is lively with lots of spice. Overall another great one from AleSmith. Peter Zien just kills it every time, it’s almost ridiculous. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 2, 2009 75 cl bottle on October 30, 2009 Marked 11% ABV Hazy golden color with yeast particles, white head. Malty, lactic, alcohol scent, a bit fruity as well. Cream, lactic, apple, alcohol taste. Alcohol and apple aftertaste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel, also salty. Low bitterness. roborb (59), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Nov 1, 2009 Bottle thanks to the Mike. Thanks brother!
Poured into a tulip this beer produced a nice orange haze with a 3 finger white head. It smells of citrus and lemon. The taste is pretty complex. At first you get the lemon presence and then it melds into the malt and sugar to form a nice crisp finish. The carbonation is perfect for this type of beer. I could not detect any alcohol while drinking this so be weary when you open one by yourself. I could see this one aging wonderfully if kept in the right conditions. Wonderful beer and highly recommended! cking (1012), North Canton, Ohio, USA Oct 28, 2009 Aroma is sweet and full of grassy yeast along with oranges and lemon peel. Cloudy golden orange pour producing a 3/4" head and calm lacing. Spritzy feel that is surprisingly smooth, sweet and medium bodied with a touch of the booze in the aftertaste. Well blended flavors of fruity oranges and lemon with a touch of banana mixed with musty yeast, candi sugar, biscuits and grass. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Oct 26, 2009 Very old bottle from Lucky Baldwin’s. Didn’t know they held it down like this. Nose is a plum, floury yeasty mellow massage of cloudy, foggy Belgian goodness. Color is as Beck would have it: a mellow gold. Flavor is very authentic owing to the Trappist yeast: more floury dark fruits, vanilla bean, sweet grain. The yeast held up really well over time and the malts haven’t really oxidized too much. Really impressive ale. Taverner (827), San Ramon, California, USA Oct 24, 2009 Aroma after an aggressive pour is fruity esters and must. Golden with white head. Flavors are vinious and dry. Notes of apricot, peach and banana in the nose. The flavor is not sweet, but very dry. Finishes dry on a yeasty note. BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Oct 23, 2009 Bottle reads 11% alc.,
has a yellow-gold pour with orange hues at the edges, generous effervescence that creates a white head, the initial large head lowers to a good cover, there is a touch of haze in this ale,
light fruit aromas of pear, orange citrus and faint banana with a mix of orange, lemon and sugar sweetness, very nice, fragrance of field flowers (flower aroma grows as the ale warms), light spice, faint vanilla? light Pilsner malt,
this is similar to a Triple but not quite as dry on the nose and a bit more spice in the mouth,
flavors of light malt, spice, and fruit flavors, the flavors are not as passionate as the nose and the coriander tends to be front and center on the taste buds, some pepper at the finish, alcohol is hidden well in this drink but you can feel the alcohol drying out your tongue a bit after the finish and the spice is strong, has a delayed warming and spice after the finish,
mouth feel is light, almost fizzy and airy,
nice nose and flavor is ok, Coriander does give a lot of Witbier hints which I like but it is a little strong especially after the ale reaches room temperature, I prefer to keep it cool to enjoy.
