Jun 17, 2006 Bottle purchased March 2005 at the brewery. Consumed 15 months later. Sweet, candy-sugary like malts in the nose, which compete with lots of spiciness and coriander. Citric oranginess also makes a cameo appearance. Some ethanol is detected retronasally. Mildly hazy copper-golden color with a smallish off-white head and fair lacing. Sweet aroma initially, turning very peppery and spiced. Lots of coriander spicing and orange notes. There is some booziness that follows with some dry, spiced noble hoppiness in the finish. I’d classify this as an Imperial Wit Beer. Not sure if that was the goal or not, but it seems to work. This beer is not as sweet as the fresh sample I tasted at the brewery 15 months ago...

Jun 17, 2006 4.5 18 (05.12.06) One pint, 9.4 oz green bottle from Liquorama. 11 %ABV. No freshness info on label. Poured clear orange with small white head. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt and spicy coriander aroma. Full bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and fresh fruit (apricot or peach), spice (coriander) flavors. Finished with light malt fade and lingering hop bitterness. Lush, smooth and well-balanced, alcohol is dangerously well-hidden in this flavorful moreish beer despite the high ABV. An exquisite ale, one of my favorite Alesmith beers.

Jun 15, 2006 750ml bottle, hazy amber-orangeish hue, with no head at all,yeast, spicy coriander nose, with a juicy orange citrusy note, sweet pale malt, candied orange peels aroma follows through on a full-bodied palate with a yeasty sweet candied oranges, tangerines fruitiness, with a note of coriander, warming alcoholic accent, hint of grand marnier liqueur, malty, honeyish flavor, but no carbonation, leading towards a a sweet marmalade and faint hops bittering finish.

Jun 13, 2006 Considerinng the style, I was very surprised and actually a bit impressed with the subtlety in the aroma here - nice soft aroma with an overlying herbal quality to it. Upon tasting, the beer takes a more forceful approach but still, it’s nicely reserved. Fruity yeast, dry and just the right amount of alchohol rounds off this beer nicely. A touch sour, juice-like citrus and with extremely floral qualities. Yeastier than the grand Cru.

Jun 12, 2006 Thanks for the botle, hey_kevin. The body was dark gold with hardly any head on top. The aroma was alocholic with peaches, honey and some perfume. The taste had some brandy with apples and peaches. There was definitely plenty of alcohol taste. This is sweet and fruity overall with some pecans in the finish. Strong stuff. The body is smooth and a little thin for a Belgian strong.

Jun 6, 2006 A LOT of alcohol on the nose. some pear juice, some orange juice, and some apple cider in the aroma as well. The mouthfeel attacks the tongue with its oily, cloying, and carbonated self. The flavors are pear juice (like the juice left in the cans of pear halves), red apples, white grapes, canid sugar fo sho, and a dash of ginger.

Jun 4, 2006 750ml bottle via trade with cbkschubert - Thanks Craig! - Pours golden with a fluffy white head that stays quite well and laces the sides of the glass. Sparkling bubbles rise to the top of the glass throughout. Aroma is corriander, yeast, and some grassy hops. Flavor is lots of yeast, some corriander, a touch of candi sugar, some apple, and pear notes. Palate is crisp, clean, and warming. Carbonated just enough to give it a soft mouthfeel. This like every other Alesmith brew I’ve had was fantastic!

Jun 4, 2006 heayweight open house 6/3/06. hazy golden. Aroma is earthy, grassy, yeasty, doughy, and also slight sour fruit. Taste is big bodied, apples, pears, slight banana and tart fruit with spicy notes throughout. very good.
