Nose of Citrus (grapefruit, tangerine) some resin. With honeyish malt with some alcohol notes as well
Flavor: Really rich complex hop flavor with a big hop bite. Honey, toast, vanilla, tangerine, grapefruit, rind, spice and round out the party.
Palate: Really long lasting, changing flavors from initial burst of malt sweetness to a drying hop finish.
Overall an IPA I have been trying to find for a while and especially being one of the highest rated IPAs. I have to say "EXCELLENT" The aroma and flavor seems to have dulled a touch from time and transport.
This comes across almost as a double IPA with its malt and alcohol but the drying finish with honeyish notes is the signature for this one. BMan1113VR (2820), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 26, 2008 Pours with a large, thick white head covering a slightly hazy golden body with tiny bubbles. Strong, heavy, sip by sip lacing left on the sides of my Stone Gaurdian glass. Retention from the head is full throught the lifetime of the glass. Aroma is very nice with citrus (mainly grapefruit) and floral hops galour, a little bit of spiceyness, and some sweet malts and some rich nearly dark fruits in the back. Taste is nice and balanced IPA with a very refreshing hop bitterness in great balance with the sweet malts and alcohol. Finishes with a rich spiceyness that is not too common in basic IPAs. Mouthfeel is velvety with lively bubbles. Deserves to be the best IPA on the site. daknole (2903), Plantation, Florida, USA

Cloudy amber color with a nice head. Wonderful floral hop aromas and citrus as well. Flavor is so great. Hops kick your ass at first but then they give way to a nice rich malty massage on your tongue. Hell yes, what a beer! RedSox2004 (355), Pacific Palisades, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 22, 2008 Golden orange with a generous head that retained its thickness for a while and left lots of lacing. Strong pine hops aromas, with grapefruit and lemon evident. Taste was dominated by the hops, but well balanced with sweet maltiness. Slightly creamy texture, lots of carbonation. Not sure where you draw the line between IPA and IIPA, but this must come close. Excellent, excellent beer. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 19, 2008 This is probably pound for pound one of the best IPAs that categorically fits into an Imperial, but is just perfect just as it is. The overly hoppy pine nose, follows right on through into the flavor, with some light citrus fruitiness, and a strong caramel maltiness. Has a slick sweetness, balanced by a bitter orange rind acidity. This is really a beautiful beer to drink. HopHeadinAZ (120), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 14, 2008 22oz bottle: Pours a clear light orange with a nice medium ivory head. The aroma is sweet with a little orange and other citrus. The flavor is classic west coast IPA with a balance of flavorful citrus focused hops but balanced with a nice malt character. The mouth feel is on eht heavier side of medium. This beer exceed my previous experience and expectations. This is a top notch IPA as so many AleSmith beers are. douglas88 (1590), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a light orange with a thin white head. The aroma is full of hops; pine and floral notes abound. Like a botanical garden. The taste is really great; a smooth and crisp hop presence, mostly pine and some citrus, and it is well balanced by rich malt. As others have said this is a excellent IPA. Could be a great everyday selection, that is if we could get it out here. blklab2007 (959), Connecticut, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 7, 2008 22 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass has a light caramel amber color and a beautiful thick fluffy white head that has great retention. like a fluffy cloud floating above the surface. aroma has bold sweet hops with a good dose of bitter resins, pine, citrus peel, and light sweet fruit. great balance in the nose of sweetness and hop character. the hops in the flavor hit right away with a battle of citrus sweet hops and piny resinous ones competing to take over. plenty of malt body to keep it grounded and finishing with bitterness and citrus. as it warmed sweet grapefruit and a touch of honey sweetness popped in. absolutely fantastic stuff, wish it was available on the east coast.
