Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

A- Pours an orangey hue with an absolutely phenomenal head which sticks around all the way through, leaving torrents of lacing on the side of my glass. S- Very floral hops and a sweet malt backbone. T- Taste is smooth and sweet, definitely hopped up but not obtrusively so. M- Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, not too viscous with about an average amount of carbonation. D- This is a monumentally drinkable IPA. I shared the bomber with my dad but could have easily had the whole thing to myself.

FINALLY got to try this thanks to dra19. Nice piney grapefruit right away even after about a year on this bottle i think. Thick head that clings to the glass long after the pour. For all the hops this thing has its a smoother drinking IPA than some. Very well balanced. I need to go to California and get this fresh from the kegs. Thanks again dra19.

Draught Yellow medium head; pale orange-amber colour. Passionfruit & grapefruit notes, bitterish fruitsherbet aroma’s. Very perfumey-hoppy flavours; enhanced by the alcohol coming out. Quite clean palate, quite slick. Good IPA, basically not overpowering, enticing.

AleSmith IPA is at the top of the list when it comes to this hoppy west coast style IPA. A rush of piney and citrusy hop aroma sweeps over you when you crack open this bottle of real ale. As you pour into your glass the light amber nectar releases carbonation carrying the aroma of a fresh hop field to your nose as you anxiously wait for the white head to settle down to take your first sip. Intense hop flavor is balanced with a malty sweetness creating a symphony of flavors on the tongue with a dry finish. Hops are intense throughout the entire experience but no so much that you need a break between quaffs. Excellent presentation of the sinfully hoppy west coast IPA.

Aroma is of peaches with some conifer and citrus. Good taste of peaches and hops with the aftertaste of In N Out burger’s for some reason. Good beer but not as good as I was expecting. Improves as it warms up.Might buy again

Bottle pours a syrupy golden hue. When I hold this up to the light it looks like malt extract syrup in my glass with lots of hop particles in it. Has a little alcohol smell with some hops. Taste is very smooth with lots of citrus and lots of lots of thick resin flavors of hops. A very nice IPA.

In a trade with stefanje Encapsulates most of what I love in an American-style IPA. Huge cascade nose, with lychees and flowery subnotes. Slightly opaque coppery colour with tight rocky white head that when deflated leaves frothy lacing. Noticeable caramel malt sweetness and rose petal and orange flavours counter the piney fresh green hops and biting bitterness that is softened by the exquisitely gentle mouthfeel. A better example of what bottle-conditioning can do for a beer you’ll be hard pressed to find. Seductively easy to drink.
