Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

This bottled brew from Patrick767 at a rating party poured a head of finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a very hazy dark orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy malty and musty. The mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong hoppy aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of mild hops and floral. A decent one that I would consider having again.

Bottle massive huge thanks to miketd. Aroma is everything i love about american hops, the citrus character is amazing, however as time goes on i get a plastic varnish note. Taste is pritty full for an ipa, toffee malt backing the huge hop character, however again theres this plastic note which totally gets in the way. The thing is i recon the problems in this beer come from the yeast, i cant figure out why its bottle conditiond like its an ipa its ment to be clean and fresh and the yeast stops it from being so, im guessing that if it wasnt bottle conditioned it would get a 4.5.

Immediately hoppy nose of citrus. First couple sips stay with you but the beer seems to become slightly lacking once into it. Malts are far to overpowered, leaving you wanting more half sip. Hops seem to overcompensate for lack of body. Overall, a decent IPA but betters are easily found.

Bottle from a trade with kenb. Thanks Ken! Pours a hazy, golden color with a hugh creamy, off-white head with massive laces. Aroma of hops, hops and more hops. Once you get past the hops you can detect a bit of citrus, mainly grapefruit I think. Taste is piney, resiny hops with a hint of caramel. Has a dry bitter finish. To me it was another typical overly hopped west coast IPA.

A gorgeous pour results in a hazy dark gold beer topped with a nice 2 finger head. Huge sheets of lacing composed of very fine carbonation adorn the sides of the pint glass. An alluring grapefruit and orange hop scent emanates from the head, complemented by a hint of caramel from the sweet bready malts. Taste is like biting into a grapefruit covered in maple syrup! Amazingly juicy. The balance is seriously a thing of beauty and awe. Medium body, pretty significant carbonation. A bit sticky but pretty crisp and eventually drying, begging for the next sip. I wish I had more, ’nuff said. Best IPA I’ve ever had.

Bottle - Thanks Harry!!!! Hazy orange colour - slight suddy white head. Aroma - if I could market this as a perfume, I would; sexy sweet hop aroma, what a thrill to inhale, literally hypnotic, like an Arabic Princess gliding by you in an old city market. Flavour - Delicious, delicious, delicious: Hops and candyfloss and baby Jesus’ tears. An absolute assault on the senses, a sexy assault. Amazing. I cried a little.

Tap @ the brewery. Pours a cloudy golden copper color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is heavily citrus hops with a slight bit of malt thrown in for good measure. Taste is grapefruit and pine needles up front dissolving into an absolutely wonderful citrus hop finish. The beer remains smooth and supremely drinkable despite the heavy carbonation. This immediately became my new favorite IPA, and another smash hit from AleSmith.

Another quality brew by AleSmith. Pours a murky copper with a head that lingers. Nose of citrus and hops, very nice on the palate with a nice dry finish. Very high quality beer for the price.
