Commercial Description:
AleSmith IPA used to be known as "Irie Pirate Ale." However, some nasty patent attorneys think the name is too similar to another brand, so we had to "cease and desist." It's a darn shame, but it beats an obnoxious legal battle, in both expenses and Excedrin. Don't worry though, we won't change the beer (which is a MUCH better IPA than that "other" brand). It was conceived as an American-style IPA to satisfy the yearnings of the most die-hard hopheads. Its high alcohol content may catch you unawares if you're not careful, but it's hard to resist once you've tasted it. Appearance: Deep golden to light amber color, and a nice beige head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with strong citrusy, resiny flavors, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness and a faint hint of plums and black cherries. Aroma: Strong piney-citrusy character, with vanilla in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, medium-bodied. Feels warm in the mouth from the alcohol.

Thanks to xnoxhatex for sharing this one on NYE 07. Pours a clear orange/yellow with a white head that lasts the glass down. Fresh nose. Pine, citrus, grapefruit with caramel notes coming through. Tastes similar. Fresh hops balanced well with the malts. All the standards that you want in a fresh IPA. Nicely done.

WOOO can you say hops! This beer is packed with them. Very nice golden hue with a thin lacey head. Beer is just absolutely packed with hops. An excellent brew!

Pours a cloudy copper with a gynormous frothy head that lasts forever. Laces throughout the entire beer and looks delicious. Smells are abundant. Hoppy but not a slap in the face. Sweet malt, caramel, fruit, rind, pine. Tastes exactly as it smells, exquisite and complex, all covered in hops. Mouthfeel is full and creamy with low carbonation. A session beer for sure. Love how this is an obvious IPA but is so complex and different at the same time. A classic.

Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a thick but small white head. Aroma of heavy citrus and hops. Flavor is piney hops, grapefruit, orange and a bit of malt. Little flashes of sweet fruit as well. Finishes bitter yet very smooth. Everything really mixes well in this. Very complex without too much of anything overpowering, yet it is bursting with flavor. Wow.

From a 22-oz. bottle--Poured a light amber hue with a thick white head. Nose of thick, sticky, floral, piny, fruity hops. Big and bold as hell. This is what IPAs are all about. Finished bitter and piquant. Love it!

Mreusch, thanks! Pours a clear amber with a large rocky off-white head and very nice lacings. Sweet with a light to medium bitterness. Some malt and caramel aromas, but mostly a good layer of hops. Grapefruit with a hint of resin. Also a bit of alcohol. Medium to full bodied with a slightly creamy texture. Medium carbonation with a long bitter and hoppy finish. Very good hops profile. Good stuff.

Beautiful amber colour with nice rocky off-white head. Very nice flowerish caramel scent followed by a smooth hoppy taste. A great experience - thank you for that.

22oz bottle. Pours a clear, light amber with a half-inch high white head. It lingered to produce nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is huge hops sweet citrus and pine. Mmmm! This is the type of smell I expect from an IPA. The taste was not as citrusy as the aroma, but still fruity and could taste the sweet malt as well. The mouthfeel was medium with lots of bitterness, yet it did not overpower the smoother sweetness. Great beer!. One of my top 3 IPAs.
