doubleo (626), San Diego, California, USA May 5, 2008 Pours orange/yellow with a moderate white head, nice lace, decent retention. Smells crisp and clean hoppy with some orangey citrus. Tastes bitter and hoppy with a lingering sweetness. Great citrus hop flavors of orange and grapefruit. Medium body with nice, smooth carbonation. Seems like they’ve toned the carbonation down a bit. Best single IPA ever in my opinion.

Nose of Citrus (grapefruit, tangerine) some resin. With honeyish malt with some alcohol notes as well
Flavor: Really rich complex hop flavor with a big hop bite. Honey, toast, vanilla, tangerine, grapefruit, rind, spice and round out the party.
Palate: Really long lasting, changing flavors from initial burst of malt sweetness to a drying hop finish.
Overall an IPA I have been trying to find for a while and especially being one of the highest rated IPAs. I have to say "EXCELLENT" The aroma and flavor seems to have dulled a touch from time and transport.
This comes across almost as a double IPA with its malt and alcohol but the drying finish with honeyish notes is the signature for this one. BMan1113VR (591), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Jun 26, 2008 Pours with a large, thick white head covering a slightly hazy golden body with tiny bubbles. Strong, heavy, sip by sip lacing left on the sides of my Stone Gaurdian glass. Retention from the head is full throught the lifetime of the glass. Aroma is very nice with citrus (mainly grapefruit) and floral hops galour, a little bit of spiceyness, and some sweet malts and some rich nearly dark fruits in the back. Taste is nice and balanced IPA with a very refreshing hop bitterness in great balance with the sweet malts and alcohol. Finishes with a rich spiceyness that is not too common in basic IPAs. Mouthfeel is velvety with lively bubbles. Deserves to be the best IPA on the site.
