Tap at O’Brien’s, CASK at Linkery. Looks as good as an Amber ever will. Aroma is darker than expected and this is explained in the flavor, which is Malt Central. I detected only a slight hop profile that tasted like Christmas Tree and didn’t do much to balance. Has that bloody roundness of beef hearts, but not the flavor, just the full midpalate. Much hoppier on cask. Really odd beer for AleSmith.

Growler of MBV purchased at Alesmith, poured into a Sam Adams Specialty glass. Appearance is a clear deep ruby amber hue with a decent amount of thin white head, moderate lacing. Smell is sweet caramel malts mingling with green piney hops, tones of peat and wood. Taste is dominated by caramel malts, sweet sugary peat malt, some grassy and pine hops come up, hints of vanilla, orange/citrus, and some oak chips, finishes sweet and drying. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, thick and smooth texture, moderate carbonation. Drinkability is moderate, this is a well-balanced amber with plenty of flavor, definitely a lighter cousin of Evil Dead Red and Decadence, this is more reminiscent of PP Sharkbite in terms of a lower hop presence, definitely worth trying in honor of V-day!

a darn good amber ale......lots of hops to balance the what would otherwise be way too sweet......great malt profile....and it almost seemed like a red ale....but it says here it is an amber so oh well?

Dark amber with a thin head. Light citrus aroma with caramel malt. Mild caramel malt sweetness, with toffee, toast, and a medium hoppy finish. Well done amber ale. A little different than most.

Tap at PP Carlsbad. Pours a nice dark red with a small white head. Smell is light citrus hops, caramel, bread and a candy sugar. Taste is nice mellow caramel malt, bready malt and mellow citrus hops. Carbonation was light and made this one easy to drink. Great Amber.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Dark amber, malty citrus hoppy aroma. Full malt character, ranging from sweet caramel - dark crystal, hop profile hits nicely, finish is sweet and bitter just as I like it. A very nicely done American amber ale.

On tap at Liars Club. Red copper with a fizzy white head. Citrus hoppy aroma. Caramel, lemon, molassess and a hoppy finish.

On tap at OBriens with Katie. Re-rate after having a rather unappetizing cask version the year earlier. Beautiful clear bloody red-brown color with a copper hue that reflects the light nicely. Some head develops initially, slowly giving way to fine white lacing. Mouth-watering aroma of sappy hops and caramel malts. Well-rounded flavor profile that starts with lots of caramel and transitions directly to firm red ale bitterness. Crisp and clean finish. Medium bodied.
