realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Jul 29, 2006 On tap pours deep brown with ruby highlights and a nice big off white long lasting head. Aroma is mostly chocolate with carmel and some subtle hopping. Nice bold and chewy brown with mostly chocolate flavors, would be nice if it had a bit more hops to help out, but a good example of style. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 29, 2006 On tap at AleSmith. This dark brown ale poured with a fluffy tan head. Very malty aroma and a medium chocolatey body. Not sweet or bitter, and the finish is a bit chalky. Overall, a very soliid brew. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 2, 2006 (on tap @ alesmith)dark brown body with a thick, creamy head that left webbing as it sat.the aroma was nutty as the name states, along with some chocolate, and roasted malts.the flavor was the same mix as the aroma.the mouthfeel was nice and full for a brown ale.id say this is the best brown ale i have had so far. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 29, 2006 sample at brewery. maybe i’m biased against the style, but i didn’t find much to write home about here. surprising chocolate, pretty balanced and smooth. i guess i spent most of my time while drinking it considering my next move. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 28, 2006 A had a sample of this at the brewery and it was quite impressive, especially for a mediocre style and one of my least favorite. Very caramelly and some chocolate notes in there. Dark brown color and very smooth. Great session beer. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jun 26, 2006 On tap at The Local in SD. This was my first AleSmith beer ever. Garnet in color with an off white head. Has a toasted nutty aroma. Delicious malt body that is just too rich for the style- that’s why I liked it. Has a subtle sourness to the finish. Yummy! BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 15, 2006 Great brown ale, its nutty with hints of carmel, chocolate, and toasted flavour. Smooth and creamy with some light fruit and hops complementing this one. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA May 12, 2006 Tap, The Local. Poured dark brown with ruby highlights. Sweet roasted malty aroma with some chocolate. Sweet chocolate cream flavor. Maybe a little bit of a vanilla flavor. Somewhat dessert like, but not overly sweet.
