Commercial Description:
Nautical Nut Brown Ale has been through several incarnations since its inception. Co-founders Ted and Skip first brewed the beer as a mild ale (lower-strength brown ale) to represent Q.U.A.F.F. (a local homebrew club) at the Southern California Homebrewers' Festival in 1995. The beer was popular and well-liked so we adjusted the recipe to increase its body and strength. It was initially released as a seasonal brew named Brownie in the early spring of 1997. A year later, after several requests to brew it again, we made further recipe refinements, designed a new label, and renamed the beer Nautical Nut Brown Ale. It continues to gain popularity and win awards. Appearance: Deep brown but still translucent with a rich, chestnut to ruby hue. Its brilliant clarity and fine white foam make it almost as appealing to view as to drink. Flavor: Rich malty flavor balanced by a slight dryness provided by chocolate malt. The hops are subdued but present enough to keep the beer from being too sweet. Aroma: Clean, fresh malt aroma heightened by the nutty scent of the chocolate malt and fruit aromas from the hops and fermentation. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth and lush yet dry.

The perfect brown ale, kids. A big foamy head that lasts, strong roasted nuts paired with chocolate and caramel with a little dab of raisins. Wunderbar.

A- Pours a very dark brown hue, moderate tan creamy head that is mostly diminishing, fair lacing throughout S- Nose is dominated by a range of nuts including hazelnut, pecans, and almonds, roasted malts, tones of coffee and cocoa/milk chocolate, some light hops too T- Initial taste is of roasted nuts and malts as expected, followed by sweet chocolate tinged with espresso, finishes with crisp hop bitterness in the lasting finish, very well-balanced and complex brown! M- Light-medium bodied, creamy to watery texture, good carbonation D- At under 5%abv, this is a standout brown session ale that is smooth and delicious

Pours an attractive deep caramel with a thin tan head. Sweet nutty and roasted malt nose and flavor. Smooth on the palate. One of the better of this style.

Solid nut brown. Distinctive nut flavor with some roasted and toasted malts...beautiful ruby brown body, nice off white head with good lacing. Starts sweet but ends dry and bitter. On tap at o’briens and alesmith does it again.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a light brown head and a hazy deep brown body with good lacing. Aroma of nut, maple, chocolate, and light spice. Taste is very palatable, with nuts, spices, and cinnamon with a touch of tobacco. Light carbonation and a water like to dry mouthfeel.

No head, dark brown/black body, roasty chocolate vanilla nose, Bitters in flavor! American style brown for sure, dark roast and hop bitters in the backbone flavor, feeling a bit let don about the lack of sweet nutty notes or any sort of complexity in the flavor by this one b/c of how hyped it is, a good well hopped brown though it is

Clear dark amber with tiny white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel and hints of hops. Flavour likewise with a hoppy finish.

Absolute top of its style. Had this on tap at Pizza Port in Solana Beach, CA. Medium brown color with small off-white head. Malty, nutty goodness (hazelnuts dominate), some chocolate, surprisingly complex taste. These guys just do not make a bad beer, or even an average one.
