Commercial Description:
Nautical Nut Brown Ale has been through several incarnations since its inception. Co-founders Ted and Skip first brewed the beer as a mild ale (lower-strength brown ale) to represent Q.U.A.F.F. (a local homebrew club) at the Southern California Homebrewers' Festival in 1995. The beer was popular and well-liked so we adjusted the recipe to increase its body and strength. It was initially released as a seasonal brew named Brownie in the early spring of 1997. A year later, after several requests to brew it again, we made further recipe refinements, designed a new label, and renamed the beer Nautical Nut Brown Ale. It continues to gain popularity and win awards. Appearance: Deep brown but still translucent with a rich, chestnut to ruby hue. Its brilliant clarity and fine white foam make it almost as appealing to view as to drink. Flavor: Rich malty flavor balanced by a slight dryness provided by chocolate malt. The hops are subdued but present enough to keep the beer from being too sweet. Aroma: Clean, fresh malt aroma heightened by the nutty scent of the chocolate malt and fruit aromas from the hops and fermentation. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth and lush yet dry.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a luxurious amber color with a creamy tan head. Brimming with the aroma and flavor of walnuts and pecans with the shells thrown in for a note of bitterness. Slight caramel and dark cocoa are also present, but this beer is all about it’s name. Well done, as usual.

Pours dark brown, almost opaque, with a nice thin tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts/malt. Flavor begins sweet and then becomes roasty and carmelly sweet. Flavors of crisp malt and cocoa dominate the palate. By far the best Brown ale out there.

Put a keg of this beauty in my kegerator yesterday and it is a wonderful brew. A deep, dark chestnut brown pour with a creamy off white head. Enticing malty nose redolent with nuttiness with ever so slight chocolate notes. Full bodied regardless of the low abv. Flavor is up there with some of the best browns. Crisp and clean finish makes this an excellent session.

Deep ruby brown with a tan head. Spicy malty aroma. Nutty aromas also are noticeable. The flavor is very nutty with medium sweetness that is balanced well by the hops. Medium dry body. A very nice brew.

Love this beer, has a nutty/slightly sweet taste & yet bitter. Hue is a dark amber-brownish, aroma is refreshing nutty & chocolaty, really enjoyed it! Only found one place here that has it....NAJA’s.
