Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

250th rating. Bottle, pours thick black with a medium/thin dark beige head. Strong coffe with chocolate and taosted malt aromas. Flavors are powerful. Strong bitter coffee with bakers chocolate and bitter hops. The mouth is full of a faint carbonation and a creamy feel. The finish is light with an alcohol burn and coffee in the finish. It stays with you for a good minute. Awesome.

2008 bottle. Wow, at the time this was the best beer I had ever tasted. That lasted for about 1 minute until I took my first sip of Dark Lord (side-by-side tasting). Absolutely phenomenal beer. They do not get much better than this. Viscous and black with a small brown head. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt, some hops. Flavor is INTENSE coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, and well-balanced hop bitterness. Full mouthfeel, not quite as full as Dark Lord, but full in comparison to your average RIS. Drinkable for what it is, almost sickeningly so.

Pour is black and still, just a very small brown head. Aroma is strong with coffee, chocolate and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is roast coffee and alcohol. Too much apparent alcohol for my taste. Seems a bit unbalanced. Not sure why, but I like the Barrel Aged version better even though the ABV is present there as well. Just seems like it belongs there.

Getting notebook online. Draft at Stone. Pours a midnight black with a brown head. Delicious roasted coffee flavor and aromas. Dark chocolate and caramel flavors add to the flavor beautifully. Mouth is smooth and clean. Very easy drink! I can not wait to try again! Resampled some 2003 (11/7/09) at the SDBGF on tap. It was awesome having this slightly after having the 2003 BA version. This beer aged beautifully. THe flavors popped with wonderful dark chocolate, rich roasted coffee, smooth roasted malts. The mouth is rich and creamy and wonderfully smooth. Outstanding beer!!!

Bottle shared by Marcus. Dark brown color with a dark tan head. Aromas of dark fruit and darkly toasted malt. A little chocolate. Flavor is coffee and a little dark prune. Toasted malt is in the background. Finish is fruity, coffee. A stand out stout.

Seriously dark, impenetrable blackness, with a big permanent head. Very complex aromas with dark, bitter chocolate at the forefront. Very thick in the mouth, smooth and chocolatey. Very deep. Bitter and sticky in the finish. Great but it doesnt disguise its percentage well. Unfortunate.

750 Ml Bottle-aged 1 year-Poured black w/no head. This beer just didn’t overwelm me like I was expecting. It was a solid stout, coffee flavor was a little too strong & it overpowered the brew, kind of threw it out of balance. Had a good mouthfeel, but I just didn’t think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread-as it is often described. Left me wanting more. Long, full coffee finish.

2007 750 into snifter. Pitch black with a nice mocha head. Great coffee character on aroma and flavor. A pretty big beer.
