Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Bottle with Craig, Stella, Fin, Loz and Traci, at the "What’s This Label Supposed To Be Anyway?" tasting. Big thanks to Douglas88 for this one!

Deep black with just little shiny brown edges, modest layer of burnt tan fine bubbles with some good stick. Dry smokey coffee roast aroma, dry burnt toast, dark chocolate. Fuller body than the BA Speedway, and fuller, more dramatic roast character. Lingering dark chocolate. Green sappy wood. A stunning, beautiful beer. Compared to the BA Speedway: the nose on this is a little less luxurious, but the fullness of the roast character is just outstanding.

2004 Bottle shared by illinismitty. Pours black with a tan head. Chocolate and light coffee aroma with a slight hop background. Great coffee, milk chocolate and roast flavors. Full body, creamy, sweet, and smooth. An awesome impy stout!

Bottle at Toms Ultimate Glasgow Tasting ... Deep deep black ... little thin compaired to others ... Little rougher ... lot and lots of coffee lots of roast malts. I suspect that on its own it might have scored higher but since there is sucha glut of Imp Stouts it just doesnt cut the mustard for me. 3.4

TK2 Bottle at Fins thanks to Casey for this one Had along side my BA bottle and for me this was the better of the two ... Both were OK but neither blew me away ... Deep black ... sweet roast malts nose... smooth deep rich malts ... quite a bit of chocolate ... a little salty 3.8

Tasting with Casey, Traci, Craig, Stella and Loz 27-09-08 this bottle brought along by Casey I was outside cooking and trying to cook and rate such a highly regarded beer was quite an art and required great dexterity and juggling skills with cooking utensils and pen. Pours black but moving to gravy brown at the edges with just a few brown bubbles trying to big it up as a head. Creamy and soft in the mouth, indulgent, rich and oodles of dark, dark chocolate, ooh eck the chicken is catching that’ll have to do, stunner of a beer.

Oxidationfest Tasting at illinsmittys. 2004 vintage. My first exposure to alesmith. Pours an oildy black with no head. Great roasty aroma somewhat hot on the end. Flavor is sweet and chocolatey. Tastes like a dark chocolate candy bar. What a way to pop my alesmith cherry! Watery and almost no carbonation.

Bottle, big thanks to Hophead22. Poured A very dark black with a brownish red head. Aroma is very coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, and malt. Flavor is delightful! Coffee is very present along with chocolate, with light caramel and slight alcohol taste. Finishes very smooth, almost glides down. A very delicious stout.

750 ml. bottle. Pours a dark black color with a creamy brown head, fair lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, lots of coffee, a touch of bitterness, and a touch boozy. Flavor is good, sweet, I get a ton of coffee from this, roasted malts, some chocolate, and a slightly bitter finish. Smooth on the palate, slightly alcoholic.

Pours a very black hue with a good sized light brown head. Aroma is very sweet, with lots of coffee, molasses, and some chocolate. Flavor starts off sweet, then finishes off with a hoppy bitter flavor that lingers in the mouth for a while. However, caramel dominates the flavor! Syrupy mouthfeel, with lively carbonation. Hands down the best stout I have ever tasted!
