Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Black with a big brown head. The aroma is very roasty with coffee and light sweetness. Lots of roasted and burnt malts, coffee, sweeter dark malts, chocolate, then a nice hoppy bitterness which moves back into roasted coffee and charred malts. Smooth, layered, complex. Awesome at 12%. Glad I finally rated this one. Don’t know why it took so long.

From paper label 750ml, silk screen would be minus 0.3 probably. Bigger richer, more intense, still bring acidity alc and balance keeping it high toned with a seemless lengthy finish. Enjoyed with dinner and friends, needed about 20 minutes to wake up. An outstanding brew. I look forward to my 1 other paper label and barrel aged ones. Also enjoyed this the same night from keg. Keg was a bit softer and more femenin. Different batches and years apart. I’d take the paper label for special occasions, the keg and new bottle versions are outstanding "everyday" type beers.

Pours a solid black with a virtually nonexistent tan head. Not the best looking stout around. Aroma is a little understated. Coffee, chocolate, licorice, and a hint of booze. Ok, more coffee as the beer warms up. The flavor is AWESOME. Tons of delicious coffee, butterscotch, chocolate, molasses, buttery biscuit. The finish is fantastic as well - the flavor trails off into a very nice bitter coffee bitterness, with a hint of boozy warmth from the 12%. Thick, smooth mouthfeel, but not quite as creamy as I would have liked. Clearly this beer rules, but I would say there are a few better imperial stouts out there.

Pours pitch black with a tiny tan head. Strong coffee in the nose. Naturally, there’s some chocolate there too. Flavor is where it’s at. Licorice and chocolate. Smooth caramels. Interestingly, the coffee isn’t as noticeable here, but is definitely still there especially coming across smooth and strong in the finish. Mouthfeel is nice, full, and creamy, but there are definitely more velvety thick and smooth impy stouts out there. Overall, really solid beer.

9/9/2008 bottle received in trade 9 months prior. I AM RATER #1000. Very little head. Quite a bit of coffee and toasted malts in the aroma. Aroma is good but not fantastic, mainly due to some caramel that aint so great. That same component is caramel, and very butterscotchy in the flavor, but not in a diacetyl way. In a pretty good way. Mouthfeel is very smooth and velvety with low carbonation, but slightly too thin. The finish is superb with a lot of chocolate and enough dryness to get your tongue zipping around your mouth. Some alcohol. 8/4/9/5/17-4.3 Bottle purchased 1 month prior. Very similar beer to before except there was a lot more fruitiness and some more vinous character. Just not as good. Palate definitely not a 5 this time. 8/4/8/4/17-4.1

Courtesy of ibrew2or3. Pours black with brownish head. Aroma is roasted with coffee all over, add some chocolate. Taste of biscuits, coffee, light caramel alcohol is well present. Offers a real good finish, a real warm-up. Tasted close to room temp. Something wrth sharing, and taking your time tasting. A nice and outstanding imperial stout.

Pours out black with small brown head. Smells of roasted coffee and grains. Taste chocolate, coffe, and molasses. Rich full-bodied stout.Has layers of flavors, complex. Crisp and clean finish with slight alcohol burn as warms. Great Imperial style.

750 bottle that I have stored away for four month myself after receiving fresh. poured into a snifter has a black color and a half inch brown head that took some vigor to produce. aroma has rich chocolate malt, lightly roasted bold coffee, alcohol, and some molasses sweetness. rich and chewy. mouth feel is medium full with light carbonation that is just enough to keep it from becoming too much. flavor has smooth dark and chocolate malt intermingling with the dark roast coffee. sweetness is just enough to fend off the bitterness underlying. the alcohol is certainly present but not overbearing being 12% and all. a touch of hops pokes in from time to time and the flavors grow as it warms but it stays smooth. a tasty treat that is very well done.
