Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Pour was a nice thick black with a frothy dark tan head. Roasted malts and coffee with chocolate came through the nose. Starts with a very slight carbonation on the tip tongue, flavor continues the roasted coffee and chocolate theme. Finish is bitter with a coffee like burn. Not a coffee man myself, but was very impressed with its usage here. I enjoyed how the aroma complimented the taste so well with every sip.

Dutch tasting session Bunnik. Opaque, big brown head. Malty, coffee and some chocolate in aroma. Malty flavour, bitter, chocolate again. Lasting bitter finish.

Bottled, April 09, 3.4: Tried 2 different bottles but both were lactic. And the beautiful balance is gone as well. What happened? Bottle@DTS, July 08, 4.1: Nice aroma, blackcurrant, coffee, hint of black chocolate. Opague, brown fine head, good lace. Nice balanced flavor between sweet and roasted bitterness. Alcohol well hidden.

Bottled. Thick black colour with mediumsized brown head. Aroma is sweet malts, coffee, chocolate, licirice, alcohol and some sour smoked wood. Also a bit vanilla as it warms up. Flavour is very much the same kicking you in the face while drinking. A very nicely balanced big ABV Imperial stout, which still manages to be both powerful yet so smooth and nice.

Special thanks to RomanW70. Pours like old motor oil-thick, black with no head. Powerful aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Taste was powerful! Coffee, chocolate, malts, caramel, alcohol. Phenomenal!!!

To celebrate my FSA. Poured deep solid opaque black with a generous brown head that fell to a solid film that left great lacing all the way. Strong aromas of coffee, chocolate, toasted malts. A sniff of bourbon and licorice is also detectable. Intense but very pleasant coffee flavor is supported by dark chocolate, a bit of licorice, and warmed by the alcohol. Though strong, the alcohol taste is not overpowering, but the effect is a sense of comforting warmth. Full bodied, smooth as silk with slight hops at the finish, this is a classic. Glad I had a reason to celebrate.

Thanks to Matt at a little tasting at Discount Liquor (unplanned event) this beer was a real treat to discover. A well balanced Imperial Stout. Typical tones of coffee, dark chocolate, and a wood cask veil made in a very huge recipe. Very dark pour with no carbonation as expected it truly is a world class big beer. Take your time it’s worth it the journey.

(Bottled, 0.75l, my first sample at PBF 2008) Almost black with a smallish, beige head. Intense aroma of roasted malt, licorice, salty soy sauce. Roasty, almost burned flavor with licorice, roasted coffee, warming alcohol. Full-bodied, low-carbonated, warming palate. A beautifully balanced beer for the Finnish cold summers :).
