Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

750 mL bottle - thanks Jason! This one absolutely lives up to the hype. The pour is black with a dark tan head. The aroma is mostly coffee with undertones of roastiness and a little chocolate. The flavor is amazing. If it’s possible, I think that the addition of the coffee actually mellows the flavors that you get out of an impy stout of this strength. There’s a very pronounced coffee tone with a little less astringency than I’d expect. This one is big, but damn is it ever smooth... The mouthfeel is very creamy with a little bit more alcohol as it warms. This one just didn’t disappoint. Great beer. The best I’ve had in this style.

Big and tasty brew, and big thanks to Shyam for the trade. Big big big. Big bottle, shared and tasted before and during dessert. Pours a deep oily black with thin brown head of bubbles. Big nose of black coffee, burnt from being on the burner a little too long, with some biter dark chocolate mocha stirred in there. Flavor has a light sweetness rolling into that slightly burnt bitterness, faint touch of smoke there too. Like coffee except better. Very tasty on its own, unbeatable paired with homemade cheesecake. Slightly thick, slick and oily mouthfeel. Long roasty, lightly bitter aftertaste. A very nice experience.

An excellent brew. I was worried by the description that the coffee would be overwhelming but the flavors find a nice harmony. The mouthfeel is very smooth, slick and full. The second best in the category I have had to Stone RIS. I will buy this again for sure.

Oh man...I might get flak for this..but Speedway Stout just doesn’t do it for me. Great colour, beautiful head, but I feel that the 13% just kinda kills the effect. There are some roasted chocolate notes and a some pleasant malted chalky coffee tones in the mix, but the ever present burning of alcohol just overides it. Perhaps I am missing something, but It seems like a careless recipe that could be improved upon.

Pours dark black w/ tan head that fades fast to a lacing in my snifter. Best smelling impy stout I’ve ever had (better than DL) maybe because I love coffee. Also in there is roasted malts, slight caramel, and chocolate. Flavor is coffee, not as in your face as some other impy stouts and the 12% is well hidden. There’s some carbonation coming through the viscosity of this thick brew. Mouthfeel is a little oily DL has a slightly better palate. Very drinkable beer, I’m glad I got two more sitting in the cellar.

Rating #100. Pours out like a low viscosity oil that has a caramelly/malty aroma and thick head with loose bubbles. Tastes like a low viscosity oil, except one that has a complex malt/ coffee mixture. Ends very crisp, with a brief, understated alcohol bite to it.

this beer poured a black color with a tan head and some rocky bubbles. a good looking beer. the smell is of coffee, molasess, sweet malt, roastiness, espresso coffe beans... complex as hell. the taste is divine and complex and consistent with the smell. indescribably balanced. alcohol present. damn near perfect. the mouthfeel is full and velvety. it doesn’t get better than this. the drinkability of this beer is off the charts. perfect.
