Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Pour oily black almost gross looking with a dark tan head. Aroma was strong coffee smell. Flavor was also strong coffee with hints of chocolate and a very good job of hiding the alcohol.

Wow is this a beautiful looking beer! Pitch black pour with a dense 2 finger dark tan head. The head linger for quite a while and leaves a lot of lacing. Roasted malts with dark chocolate and coffee aromas in support. Also faint dark fruitiness in the background. Initial maltiness gives way to a more dominant roasted coffee flavor with figs and chocolate undertones. Extremely complex yet balanced. By far the best tasting coffee-infused stout I’ve ever had. Nice creamy mouthfeel that just coats you mouth completely. Leaves a pleasant lingering coffee bitterness. Wonderful, wonderful beer. This would certainly be near the top of my list of stouts or any beers for that matter.

Gorgeous black with tan head. Coffee aromas. Creamy body. Cream is present through ad through making this the beer that most resembles the coffee I drink as opposed to the coffee bean. A superb integration of the coffee and bolstered by an incredibly crafted imperial stout that leaves nothing to be desired except for more.

Bottle at Oldsmar Tap House. Pours an opaque black with little head. Aroma is huge on roasted coffee and some woodiness. Flavor is loaded with chocolate bitterness, more coffee, and a touch of sweetness. I wish I took more notes, but I definitely enjoyed this one.

I’m a huge fan of any beer that has coffee in it. I personally don’t car for the appearance of the bottle. When I first tried it I was skeptical because of the bottle looks, but it is incredible.

Bottle. Pours a dense black with a beautiful, creamy tan head. Aroma is dominated by bitter coffee, maybe some caramel and malt. Flavor is at first caramel and roast, then the coffee hits, Ends on a dry hop note with coffee. NICE !!! Have one cellaring for a future tasting, I think aging will only make this that much better.

750ml bottle: I believe this one dates to 2004: paper label and black foil. This one pours an inky very dark brown. There was a thin tan head that didn’t linger. Rich aroma. Mainly Roasted coffee and chocolate, with hints of sweetness and some dark fruits. WOW: is the taste smooth. It is very full bodied, roasty chocolate caramel, definitely some hops to balance it out, but they are masked. Excellent.

the true american king of beers. this beer lives ups to it’s hype. I was so excited when I walked into Hollingshead’s and saw it. I wish I could have aged it longer, but I was too eager to try it. (2008 from bottle.) it’s thick and rich and complex, velvety smooth and bountiful.
