Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Holy smokes, this is a great brew! Second only to the Kentucky Breakfast in my book. Dark and foreboding, this coffee laden stout hits the spot. Loads of dark strong coffee and chocolate both in the aroma and flavor make this a memorable brew. I loved it and wish I had access to this one .

With all due respect to Alesmith Brewery, i expected better, maybe because this is the first Imperial Stout that i drinked, but the flavor was quite dull to me, the body was black with a dark brown head, a coffee aroma, a caramel malt flavor, which was sweet and bitter at the same time. Maybe this is not my beer. Its not ordinary by any means.

My 100th rating!! Really excited about this one. Pours jet black with a thick, dark tan head that quickly disappears. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. Taste of coffee, toffee, chocolate, and... coffee. Like everything else from Alesmith, gets better with each sip. Big bitter finish. Velvety mouth feel. Warming finish. I’m seriously considering moving to San Diego for the beer.

It’s a cold day when the Gators don’t make the NCAA. It’s a cold day when it is raining and cold outside. Put them together, and I realized it was time to crack open the Speedway. You know how this beer tastes. It’s pure chocolate and richness. I don’t need to tell you that. Hell, I don’t need to tell you anything. This is a great stout.

2007 Bottle 750mL - Beautiful black pour with a healthy tan head. On the first sip, lots more malt than I remembered, but a well rounded overall finish of bitter chocolate, coffee and sweet brown sugar. Had to share it or risk sleeping on a friends couch, but as fine of an Imperial Stout as you are going to find. I can’t wait to see how this one turns out after a few years on the rack.

Thick dark black brown liquid with a deep medium brown thick head. Nose is chocolately and hints of a deep roasted malt. Flavor is a warming mix of roast coffe and dark chocolate. Bearutiful finish. Thick satiny body. A stunning beer. Let this one sit for 2 years before I popped it. Was well worth it!!!

Drank it with Juancho at the Ginger Man in NYC. As an imperial stout and coffee lover this is heaven. Tasted like the finest Illy expresso brewed in the streets of Rome or Florence. Masterful.

@ Gingerman in NYC and then at Hop Devil.... Wow. Looks like an espresso with a wonderful thin/brown tinged head. Sark Chocolate, bitter coffee, sweet malty caramel flavors, smooth, smooth, smooth. Love it.
