Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Bottle. HUGE Imperial stout like most in the top 50. At first sip, I didn’t believe it deserved its high placement. Aroma doesn’t knock you over like bourbon county. Expedition stout has a stronger coffee aftertaste. World wide stout has more of the malty barley taste and hits harder. However, midway through the bottle, I realized that this beer does deserve its spot as it shares the good qualities of many HUGE stouts without being overpowering in any. Very balanced. If someone asked me to recommend a BIG stout, I’d say this one as no flavor is strong enough to be offensive to a fan of STRONG stouts. As far as the HUGE motor-oil stouts go, I find this the most drinkable even if you are drinking it under the table eventually.

[1044-20080112] 750mL (c/o HogTownHarry, w/ him, garthicus, jerc, mds, Radek Kliber; Vintage 2005?). Bit of boozy coffee roast malt aroma. Black brown body with a medium-lasting foamy tan head. Raisin coffee roasted malt continues in the flavour. Full body is thick. Great style, solid brew.

Bottle. thanks Zinister. Almost black pour with a small brown head. Aroma is of chocolate and coffee along with some roasted malt. Flavor is chocolate and alcohol. Very complex with some coffee and roasted malt in the background. Very very good.

Rated in Los Angeles while at the SCTE ET 2008 conference. Tasted in typical hotel bar glass. 750ml bottle. Obtained from Westwood Whole foods. Pours deep dark black with absolutely no head, syrupy consistency. Aroma is syrupy sweet, some hints of alcohol. Flavor is incredibly sweet but has a slight bitter finish, alcohol is present in the flavor. You need to like big beers to be into this bad boy.

This beer got me drunk it was so strong. Great flavor but almost too strong. When they say huge, they literally mean HUGE! Aroma and flavor are overpowering with coffee.

Bottle. Had this again last night. I’ve downed several bottles of this fantastic beer over the last couple years, but somehow didn’t realize I hadn’t rated it. Pouts a dark black with very thin brown head. Aroma is sweet malt, roastiness, caramel, and dark chocolate. Very thick and oily, sweet, roasted malts, coffee, caramel, and liquorice. That’s one hell of a beer. Likely the best stout I’ve ever had.

We shared this beer on January 11 2008, where our dear friend and my husbands best friend, Jeppe Ebdrup was buried. We miss you SO much, cheers Jeppe! It’s a pitch black beer with a huge nougat colored, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark fruits and filled chocolates (a bit vinous) and coffee. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour is smooth like velvet, harmonic and complex. It has notes of roasted malt, dark fruits, bitterness, licorice and the finish has both sweet coffee and a light grapefruit-like bitterness. A big beer! Thank you Tom/After4ever for this treat, that I hae had in my cellar for a year now - form my (and our) very first trade. Thanks for being such a wonderful friend, and isn’t it fantastic that passion for good beer can give you such precious friends through the internet?

Harry brought this along to the tasting and managed to wipe it from my want list! Deep dark black, I shone a desk lamp through the glass and not one ray of light permeated through. Coffee-vanilla-chocolate-cream aroma. An amazingly smooth, sweet, sticky toffee flavour, truly great. *Oh oh oh it’s magic*
