Literally no light escapes it. Nose is fresh brewed espresso, extremely dark chocolate, coffee, coffee, coffee, hint of smokiness. I could smell this beer for hours. I would wear this beer smell as a cologne. Flavor is intense coffee, hints of chocolate at the end. Great duration. Incredible creamy mouthfeel with light fizz. Just enough hint of alcohol as well. Great coffee and chocolate flavor without being unbalanced. No hint of the 12%, this could be an Irish Dry its so damn smooth. Lovely. vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

The taste was a bitter strong coffee. Overall a great beer. scenroot2 (6), , Washington, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 19, 2009 A - Pours out black and viscous as hell, motor oil. Beautiful finger of dark tan head.
S - Dark roasted coffee, bitter chocolate, slight alcohol.
T - A wonderful example of an imperial stout. Not as much of a coffee profile as expected, pleasant dark roasted malt sweetness. Finishes very clean and very warming.
M - Creamy, thick and chewy, very heavy bodied.
D - A slightly boozy imperial stout however pretty drinkable for such a high ABV. Definitely a sipper that gets exponentially better as it warms. A very solid beer for the style. tyanow (10), California, USA

The coffee flavors were not available even after warming up. The chocolate that I keep reading about was so subtle that I could barely detect them.
First time I had it it was too cold, and so I tried it again at a different place on a different day and it was a totally different beer.
I look forward to finding it on tap somewhere - the suspense is killing me. playitbybeer (56), San Diego, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Pour reminds of me of pepsi, dark and heavy carbonation with a nice tan head. Smell of chocolate, espresso and the beach on a summer night the alcohol is nice and subtle on the nose. Full mouth feel sweet chocolate followed by bitter coffee beans and a lingering yet subtle alcohol finish. Overall impression is stellar, nothing to complain about at all. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
