Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

The description is spot-on about one thing right off the bat: this beer is indeed HUGE. I mean physically huge! Even half-empty, this bottle must weigh about 7 pounds. 750ml of 12% stout...I almost feel like I’m inflicting this beer on myself, hehe. I’m very surprised to discover that the bottle is green, but the foil and label do cover most of it. Color is solid, light-defying ebony with a lasting, light brown head. Aroma is indeed promising, caramel/toffee, roasty, chocolate malt and espresso, with a hint of the alcohol. Flavor further expounds upon the concept devised by the aroma, with the toffee becoming a bit more evident, a vague hint of that classic imperial dark fruitiness (more apparent once the beer warms a bit), turkish coffee, chocolate syrup and an excessive quantity of roasted malt. Heavy, lusciously creamy mouthfeel. Finish is a bit drier than the rest of the beer. Alcohol certainly provides a warming effect, deep down in your chest. Wow. I can’t believe how much more of this I have to drink. Take it from me, folks, one bottle is enough for two.

2008 750 mL bottle in trade from Snojerk321- the man with more hookups in SD than a dozen pimps!!! Served in tulip as suggested on the bottle- with so many things going on right now for me, I figured it to be an opportune time to crack this puppy open! Poured blacker than the abyss of outer space, foamy dark tan with shades of brown one finger thick formed and left bubbles on the side of the glass. Huge aroma of coffee, dark roasted malt, dark bakers chocolate, and old fashioned beer awesomeness. Hits the mouth with a body wide enough to drive a Kenworth through easily, malt is highly enjoyable, hearty coffee with notes of caramel and cream in the middle, finish is lasting and has enjoyable warming experience. Not as good as my personal fav, but still hits a 10 on my awesome meter!!!

0.75l - Smoky, cocoa nose, thin tan head, some lacing. Creamy, milky stout, then mint, then some smoky hops. Good not great.

Poured black with a thick rocky 3 finger head that is burnt sugar at first then tan in color. Aroma is over poweringly coffee and chocolate, which dominate any other aroma. The tase is magnificant, huge chocolate and cofee flavors, combined with alcohol. The coffee and chocolate seem to mask the high ABV. This is the best beer I have ever had it is official.

Old engine oil black pour, dark tan head that lasted the entire glass. Looking at it from the side there were 3 layers, dark tan, reddish brown, then black. Roasted aromas, coffee and malt. Great creamy mouthfeel for such a big beer. Roast malt, some coffee, chocolate, mocha, a little lactic even. The alcohol is nearly non-existent for being 12%. Finishes much less bitter than many imperials. Lingering mocha latte. If there was an imperial milk stout, this could be it. The best of both, the roast, bittering and ABV of the imperial stout combined with the creamy mouthfeel and chocolate of a milk stout. At this point it is close, but I think this might be the best beer I’ve had nearly ever. I’ve rated the Bell’s double cream stout higher because it’s abv allows for more prolonged comsumption. This is the first time such a high expectation was met. That being said, I may be rating a little based on expectations. We’ll see after the other 3 I have age a bit. Will have to try the barrel aged.

Pours oily black with a brown head. Head dissapates quickly. Aroma is of raosted malt, caramel, chocolate, and dark fruit. Taste is absolutely delicious. Strong malt flavors, caramel, some hints of coffee beans, balanced with alcohol, yeast, and fruit. Nice alcohol punch, which wasn’t as strong as I expected. Lingering taste of chocolate lasts way longer than expected. This beer is amazingly drinkable for being a heavy stout that’s 12%.
