Commercial Description:
Stumblin' Monk is a Belgian-style tripel with a certain je ne sais quois about it that will have you stumblin' drunk trying to figure it out. Three secret spices, along with the traditional coriander, orange peel and Belgian Candi sugar, are fermented by yeast from a real Trappist monastery, making this a beer that truly must be tasted to be described. Stumblin' Monk has a deep golden color, which belies its hearty body and high alcohol content. The aroma gives away its secrets of coriander and orange peel, but its flavor is simply (or more accurately, "complexly") amazing. Thanks to bottle-conditioning, it has a thick, creamy mouthfeel, but that's just the beginning. Layers upon layers of flavors unfold upon the palate in rapid succession. It starts with orange and coriander flavors, then quickly melts into a lush, warm, clove-banana sensation. The flavor then gradually fades to a very slightly bitter, slightly malty-sweet finish.

Medium orange color with a nice creamy head. Intense complex spicy sweet ginger aroma. This beer has one of the best aromas I have encountered. Full bodied and smooth. Starts and ends slightly sweet with bready tones. Remarkably balanced. Thanks DaSilky1!

Classy looking bottle adorned with shimmering red foil. Pours with a very impressive foam, which has the tiniest of bubbles. Crystal clear light amber liquid. This aroma is one that makes you want to live: dominat notes of ginger and citric notes; underneathe lay bread, pumpkin, mint, butter, wood, dough, and oranges. The palate, which incorporated a softly carbonated and sticky feel, left me wondering how in the world does a brewer with a multitude of styles achieve this. The complexity of flavors is just as stunning: numbing spice flares of pepper, lemon cakiness, melon, and a very warming alcoholic conclusion. Why did they ditch this for their lacklusterous Horny Devil? This is just another of many reasons why I so dearly miss the ex master brewer Skip. Thanks, good buddy, DaSilky!

Thank you so much Tom....Poursa cloudy hue with a halo of a white head. Aromas of yeast, peppermint, honey, pineapple. Mouthfeel is medium bodies and smooth. Flavors of pepperminy, hint of yeast esters, apples, flowery, a hint of pepper, and a little lemon and peach. WOW>>>>>> I am glad to have had the opportunity to try such a delicious brew.

Amber in color with no hit of a nearly 10% alcohol content. Zesty candi sugar sweetness with a unique flavor that I can't quite put my finger on, but maybe something like allspice/pumpkin notes. Really interesting. Extraordinary mouthfeel and probably the best example of the style I've tried.

Wow, thanks to DaSilky1 for this one. Honeyed color with medium sticky foam that dont quit. Star anise, chinese 5 spice, corriander, nutmeg and cinnimon in the nose with traces of citrus. First sips are full of anise, perfume, and soap. As it warms yet more comes through with notes of pumkin pie and ghram cracker. Upon reaching slightly above room tempature, allspice, mace, and ginger come through adding to the doughy yeastieness and sticky mouthfeel finishing long complex and peppery with all of the above tinted by perfume and spruce.

Thanks to Tom at O’Briens for breaking this one out. It poured a cloudy brownish orange w/ golden hues, thin lasting head and slight lacing. With soury fermented fruit and citrus notes w/ hints of honey and flowers on the nose... the same in the mouth... The mouthfeel was creamy and smooth, well-rounded, and light bodied. I super enjoyed this beer.

Lightly hazy orange golden color and a thin lacey white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with some candi sugar, soft grapes, and Belgian yeast spice. Body is sweet, complex and full. Great Belgian yeast flavor beats Ommegang and Unibroue. Good balance throughout, perfectly sweet and mellow, and the alcohol is hidden very well. Yet another great offering from Alesmith. Thanks jcalabre!

appearance was reminiscent of apple cider on a hot early autumn afternoon, glowing in the sun waiting to be savored, the head was but only lace swirling in the center of the glass like a trippy picture, aroma was sweet, banana-like with hints of orange, honey, and spice. Extremely low carbonation, banana cream pie, orange, alcohol, pumkin pie (all kinds of pies going on here) Strong and sweet with a very spicy finish which reminds me of christmas trees...piney I suppose, the more it warmed the greater this brew became...Re-Rate I think that this is the very last bottle of this on the planet..mmm..the aroma was like a creamy ginger pie, thats better than the first time..superbly creamy with a hard hitting warming..the yeast, the spice, and whatever the hell else is in there combine so nicely that this is by far the most balanced tripel ive ever had...notes of orange peel, mint, nutmeg, coriander, banana bread and pumpkin pie
