deprogram (112), Renton, Washington, USA Mar 8, 2006 Well, it’s my highest rating ever, and at $13 a bottle, it better be. Hints of raisin, molasses, a warm winter blanket... mmmm. Visceral, beautiful, tasty. Need I say more? marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Mar 6, 2006 This dark brown ale poured with a short tan head that lasted a while, eliciting a roasted malt aroma. The flavor is full-bodied with a hint of treacle, initially sweet but with a slightly bitter chalky finish. This is the ultimate example of scotch ale, providing a meal in a bottle. barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA Mar 4, 2006 Big thanks to Fordest for the bottle!
without a doubt one of the better scottch ales available. a dark brown pour with some light showing through on the edges. not much of a head as I’m sure the high alcohol has a part in that. wonderful scottch aroma and flavor. good stuff! thanks Sean. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Feb 24, 2006 LCRBM: Deep amber brown with a lovely raisin, choc and caramel nose. Toffee flavours dominate with plesant raisins and plums. Heavy, smooth body. Really quite nice. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Feb 22, 2006 Updated: Sep 14, 2007Pours rich amber brown color w/ a bad comedian that only gets a small, shortlived rise from the frothy crowd. The poor guy is left w/ just a thin ring of followers. Aroma of sweet malty dark fruits w/ a mild coffee roast. Superfull nectar w/ lazy residual effers creates slightly creamy texture. Malt man malt man thick and sticky malt man. A sweet old fellow. Caramel, roasted coffee bean, cocoa, plum, and cherry flavors persist to the finish riding alongside a barrel full-o-hops. Robo Hop passes by and punches Malt Man in the belly then runs off. The friction leaves a light smokiness in the air and pushes up a few nuances of iodine and leather. The finish is long and sweet w/ a defined citrus rind component that digs in. A creamed, sweet coffee essence kicks in at this point then dissappears just as quickly. Overall: This beer is decadent, fat and soupy w/ a balancing hop act. Alcohol is well hidden. Highly recommended. bombshelter (349), Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 20, 2006 bottle. big lush malty aroma. medium body (suprisingly light for a wee heavy), big caramel-toffee flavor with alcohol present but mild. very clean finish. this is excellent. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Feb 19, 2006 This was freaking awesome. PIcked it up in Ohio. I loved everything about it. Deep black color with no head. Smells like Scotch, carmel, molasses, and only a hint of chocolate. Pretty carbonated. Has flavors of butterschotch, Scotch, Almond extract, vanilla, chocolate, carmel, and heavy cream. Very very fucking smooth. This is such a kickass beer. GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Feb 18, 2006 Aroma:Caramel, brown sugar,fruity...
