Commercial Description:
AleSmith X Extra Pale Ale is a clean, light-colored, light-bodied ale. The People's Choice award winner at the 2000 San Diego Real Ale Festival and the second runner-up in 2001, it has a good dose of dry hops balanced by a gentle sweetness, giving an almost sweet-and-sour effect. Appearance: Light golden color, and a nice white head, with good retention when properly served. Flavor: Starts off with almost tingling flavors of citrus and pine, balanced by a nice malty sweetness, then fades to a dry finish with a lingering hoppiness. Aroma: Strong lemony-citrusy character, with sweet malt and pine in the background. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Smooth, light-bodied.

From a 22oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is hoppy, citrus and pineapple with a hint of grain. Color is a clear gold with a white rocky head. First is the hop bitterness and some piney flavor followed by the malt, starting bready and biscuits and followed by some toast. Light, clean, dry finish makes me want another sip. Not heavy. A great American Pale Ale.

Bottle from Bevmo in Solana Beach. Pours a pale golden color with a thin white head that diminishes quickly. Spotty lacing. Floral hops aroma with notes of citrus and pears. Medium-bodied and moderately hoppy with floral and spiced notes. Some light malt and fruit in the background as well. The finish is mostly hoppy with some biscuity malt behind it, and a lingering bitter aftertaste. Above average overall, however not up to par with what I imagine Stone can accomplish in an APA.

Thanks to ghawener. Drank it in last nite El Salvador Beer Session. Nice well rounded IPA. Pours a clear, light golden color with a big white head. Light bodied, taste of pine and citrus. Short finish.

Incredible nose of pine and citrus - very inviting. Very light in color, very effervescent, with a nice white head. Lemons and pine flavor with a nice, malty sweetness. Very crisp and light bodied. Lingering pine. Absolutely delish!

Bottled. A hazy golden with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of grass, grapefruit, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with hoppy notes of grass and grapefruit, as well as light notes of elderberry flowers, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is thin.

Big thanks to can8ianben for bringing me my first Alesmith brew! Poured a fairly pale golden color with a lively white head. The nose and flavor profile had me very excited at how unique they were. I got undeniable mint and lemon zest throughout the bottle in the nose and the mouth. I’ve never had such a minty brew! Perfectly hopped, many in this category really overdo the hops but these were a nice addition on the finish. My only complaint is that it was a tad on the thin side but I think that may have matched up very well with the flavor profile. Very well balanced, possibly the best I have had in the category.
